Facts and opinions
Rhonda Gordan wants to talk about the other taxing districts, yes they have the authority, but they are our neighbors and friends and usually live within several miles of use in the country. We also vote them in every few years and can make a change very quickly. If what I read was right the Extension Service out of K-State puts $150,00 a year into the program. If they can get enough counties to merge then all they have to say is we can't afford to keep this program going and you can raise taxes to fund this program.
I have another complaint here is the fact the rock that we pay for to be put on the roads in the county is the first place they cut to meet budget, I would guess we are three to five million dollars worth of rock behind. I don't think they need the taxing right and the $23,000 to fund this program, we have other needs.

Mast addresses three of the top issues of 2012
The big thing I see about the KPERs is they expect COLA's and that should be stopped. The rest of us don't get a raise on our retirements. That would probably save a good portion of the .3 billion. They should get what they were promised and new hires start a different plan. However the retirement age needs raised to 62 with full retirement at age 65.

Dine United at Verona Grill and Pizzeria
We now have a great Italian Restaurant with great service and a reasonable price. We have eaten there three times and would recommend it to everyone.

Water bills could be more expensive in 2012
The Rural Water Districts will save the City again this year. They just need to wait and see how the sales are up after the heat. They have forgotten about the new Generation Plant at Lang. It has been running a lot, and uses many thousands of gallons per hour. I think they will find out that water usage will level out, or even be up.

Workshop on wind farm industry scheduled
I don't know how they are going to store wind energy, however I am sure there will be a big chunk of government funds and the taxpayers will end up paying the majority of the costs, Buffett will be able to show a big profit because we will pay for the project.

FEMA denies Fanestil grant extension
Looks to me that the chickens came home to roost, running all over the country, trying to pit one town against another, to gain more community support. Sounds as if they would have moved on the relocation as they should have, it would have probably be completed by now. FEMA terminated the project more than likely because the work hadn't started, and all the other storm damage, and flooding in other areas.

Tyson joins federal immigration program
The only taxes they pay is SS and medicare that is taken out of their checks. They claim enough dependents to get by income tax, they will never catch them because they don't file. Most of them have four or five names and don't use all of them.

State to lose $778,300 in federal funding
Things have to change, we will be looking like the one county in Ca. that has a billion dollar debt. We have thrown money at education for the last fifty years and we are still falling behind. Lets take education back over, teach the three R's and other lessons. Why does Lyon Co. need three School Supt.'s and three or four Asst. Supt.
Why do we need four high schools, and all the grade schools, why do we need school for five days when states all around us are going to four day school weeks. We need to get the Fed's out of education, do away with no child left behind, and run them with a mission.
The schools need to be able to save money for rainy days when the state gives them money not the stupid spend it or lose it, no wonder they are in such a mess. I don't know all the answers but we need to try something different.

Legislators sound off at Eggs & Issues
There's not a problem with the way we select our leaders, people just don't do their home work, and turn out and vote. If we turn out and vote the bums out of office we wouldn't have the mess we have today. We have to do our duty as citizens and vote, they can't stay in if we don't let them.
