One thing that everyone is overlooking on this case is that the man had a CDL which is a professional drivers license. The law says he must obey all laws to keep his license, just because he knew his fellow drivers where running the stop sign doesn't mean he should. They let illegals run all over and drive and hit and run people without any problem. Why enforce one law and not the others, just get a speeding ticket and see what happens to the person involved. Take a ticket to court and find out how much time is involved to prove your innocent. When the cop's dash cam proves you didn't run the red light.

How quick we forget promises, it was said if the one cent sales tax was voted in the tax mill levy wouldn't need to go up. We have commissioner who voted himself a raise, doesn't give his employees a raise then raises our taxes. How about looking into a recall petition?

This maybe the greatest thing going, however it is time for the taxing to slow down. The county got a new sales tax and we are paying it. Just how much more are we going to add to the tax payer burden?
If the farmers, ranchers and 4-H needs this let them pay for it through a user fee system just like any business. Maybe the county commission will take a pay cut to help pay for the extension service, after all they voted in there own raise. We need to start reducing government at the local level and move right on up through the ranks, and put term limits on our politicians.

The whole county is affected by these layoff's. They need to hold the expenditures for the county and not raise the mill levy at this time. They better hope the sales tax will provide some of the relief that it was lobbied for by the commissions both for the county and the city.
These people need our help and prayers to get them through the hard times that are ahead for them.

The job situation in Emporia is getting better, just look to the SE and see the new building that is going up. Look to the NE and see the new power plant that is generating electricity because the wind turbines are not running and saving the world. We have alot to be thankful for in these times, and I am sure the RDA is working to get other jobs in here as soon as the money becomes available, and the companies see some light at the end of the tunnel. We have gained back many of the Tyson jobs. Hopefully more companies and jobs to will come to Emporia.

Create, you have no idea what will be in the works of the social health care. People that don't answer to us will be making the rules, and setting up the guidelines on who gets what. If you don't believe it just take a look at EPA, OSHA and other government agencies. We have to move very slow and make sure this is not a railroad job into a single payer health system. Health care should not cost one trillion dollars of tax payers money.

We have lost fellow soldiers in the two wars. These people don't deserve to be brought to trial in the United States. They we caught fighting on the battlefield without uniforms. This is against the Geneva Convention, they are being detained until they can be handled. Send them to the countries where they are from and let them take care of the problem. Bringing them to our soil will allow them to learn the guards names, and then endanger their families. They are where they belong until resolved by military courts. We need to quit being stupid and spending millions on reworking prisons to hold them, when where they are being held is a good as it gets. These people are not your next door neighbors, they are killers and bombers who care less about you but will use the freedoms of US to kill our people. If you think these people are being abused go talk to a Vet. and find out how these people feel about America and our allies. They send women and kids to blow people up with bombs strapped to their bodies. I think you need a good dose of reality along with the President.

A sales tax was passed to relieve property taxes, however they want an eight mill increase. Enough is enough, use the sales tax as it should be. The statement they had the largest increase in sales tax, what did they expect when they had a 12 percent increase. Slater is not in tune with what is going on. Wake up people and put a stop to this farce.

What is wrong with a zero tax increase, my income has dropped fifty percent? Where is a brain storming session on the problems ? I don't understand why we can't have the school day lengthened by about twenty minutes a day to save money on buses running and utilities. I am sure if you put a select group of business people on a committee they could find many ways to cut costs. I don't believe that they have worked very hard on this problem as its just to easy to raise the mill levy. I think our school board should put their staff to work, and demand some accountability.

When is the public going to hold the school's feet to the fire. We get the new schools to close old ones that aren't modern, then we put more money into them and keep them open which require people to keep them up and pay utilities. Now we have another problem coming when we are living with less money, losing jobs and then the school districts are looking to sue us to get more money. They will sue the state because they aren't getting the money they want, not what is really needed. The way we run our school districts need a complete overhaul from top to bottom. How can you sue the people who pay all the bills, and run the their households on a lot less money?
