Now the Northwest part of town knows a little bit of how the people southeast of town felt when Hills and the wonderful biodiesel plant was shoved down our throats. There were plenty of locatons that were already zoned for these 2 business, but our commissioners were determined that it would go in there and they would twist all kinds of zoning codes to fit there needs. Now that beautiful peaceful area is no more. Between the loud noises and the heavy duty lighting it has all been ruined. I am totally for new businesses in town but the way this was done is a disgrace and would not have happened if it would have been near any of our city commissioners and now the biodiesel plant sits empty with weeds 7 feet tall. They should at least be made to take care of the area and mow it. Just so you know, I live in the northwest part of town, but have many friends that live near the mess.

Thanks Patrick Kelly. Everytime I read your articles I am reassured that cancelling my Gazette subscription was a great decision.

I would like to see this as the next Readers Poll and then have the board go with the majority vote. How do we go about making our feelings known to the board?

Thank you S.C.. Great article. I do not smoke and don't particularly enjoy a smoky atmosphere. But I also have a few brains and know that if I don't like it I just don't go in there. The government already interfers too much as it is. I do feel differently about smoking in public buildings where you might not have a choice about whether or not you will enter.

I also know first hand about coach's actions. Throwing things at players in the locker rooms, knocking over lockers, kicking and screaming. I don't care who you are, you do not deserve to be treated that way.

ladybug1,
Try talking to the officers in town. You may have a different outlook on what is really going on here. They are made to look the other way on a lot of things going on here.

Thank you Bobbie Agler for showing up. I also voted for Kevin Nelson because I thought I knew the kind of man he was. I guess we found out last night and at the commission meeting when he said he would rather let the media handle this.

On Emporia readies for more Somali refugees

Somali,
If you want to fit into this country you are certainly going at it the wrong way. Don't stand in line behind me in Aldi's screaming into your phone, don't let your men push right in front of me in line at Walmart, learn to drive, learn English and lastly don't act like I owe you anything. If you are grateful to be in this country start acting like it.

Gwen Larson..
Do you suppose the Gazette could ask the question on the next reader poll: Are you for Emporia becoming a major settling point for refugees? I would be interested in how the poll would turn out.
