Dogs on a leash or in a fence - please!

"...town that has such lax animal control statutes..."

Actually, the ordinances for keeping animals restrained are on the books (Emporia City Code, Chapter 6, Article II, Section 6-22). It's the enforcement that is lax.

No respect for the dead

Really, Emporia? This is an issue? Folks are getting bent out of shape because some other folks are going to walk on soil, underneath which happen to lie several piles of rotting animal material in various stages of decomposition?

Please find something better to do with your time than whine about non-issues. Netflix is cheap...

IMPORTANT: City of Emporia releases emergency weather plans

I'm speechless -- they scraped my street today! I guess there's some hope for this place after all!

Now to go shovel my car out of the mountain of snow left over from the street scraping. (But I don't mind)!

Oops, I mistyped in my previous post. Please ignore the fact that I typed "think's," and know that it should have been "thinks."

Thanks!

"So some of you want to spend $50k to clear snow that will probably melt in a week? Just asking..."

Yes, I do want my street to be cleared. This city thought it would be a keen idea to waste a bunch of money to needlessly slop some asphalt onto my street last year. I'd much rather they'd saved that money to get a plow on this street ONCE in a while.

I'm not upset with the workers. I'm upset with the fact that this city think's it's a good idea to spend $100,000 on ANOTHER rocky eyesore (I wonder what that hideous abomination at 6th and Industrial cost?), but can't be bothered to fund the clearing of our streets in a blizzard.

A sense of difference

Well said, Patrick. I feel exactly the same. When I walked outside yesterday morning, everything looked the same. But it sure felt different.

Hope and tolerance sure feel better than fear and prejudice.

Here's to President Obama, and to the next eight years!

Is Obama the first black president?

You're CONCERNED that he will become anti-redneck? First of all, Barack Obama is an intelligent, sensitive, caring man. These qualities mean that he is completely anti-redneck right now. He doesn't need to become that way. Secondly, anti-redneck is a GOOD THING. Racist, redneck, gun-toting warmongers are to be reviled, not accepted.

Yes We Can.
YES WE DID.

Congratulations, President Obama! The next eight years are going to be great!!!
