In actuality we should be more concerned about the #2 on the ticket than the #1. This will be a historic term in the event that neither #1 stands little chance of surviving 6 months in office. We are in the mess we're in more as a result of the Clinton years than the bush years. The next 8 years will be the results of the Bush administration. Government 101 will tell you that the majority of legislation takes 6-10 years before the results start showing. The economy has never prospered under a Democratic presidency. Oboma is just another Slick Willy and Biden is a shifty-eyed snake oil salesman. This election is the same as the last several in choosing the lesser of the 2 evils. At least with McCain; he has proven throughout his life, that he has and will give it all for the good of this country.

I Thank God continuously for all 4 of my children being 100% healthy. I don't know if I could have been a strong enough parent to raise a special needs child. I woulk like to think I could have; but am very thankful I never had to find out. I belive with all my heart that parents of special needs children will receive great blessings and rewards in their lifetime and beyond. How easy would it have been for the Palin's to have tested and then aborted their "imperfect" fetus?

I can't believe people have the unmitigated gall to use a childs sexual activities to question the parents religious standard. We can only lead our children and hope they follow our lead. Many children of devoutly religious families, stray. It should have no reflection on the parents. As for the Palin baby with Downs Syndrom; God only blesses special people with ability to raise such a special child.

So the trimming of the Republic National Convention was a bad thing? Had they not altered that, people would have complained. Now McCain feels he can serve his country better by helping speed along a solution to the current crisis and he's wrong for that? Some people just love to slam others, no matter how right the other's may be.

---SWLarson you cannot bubblerap everyone to protect them. The commuter train accident was a terrible tragedy. There are people everywhere who irresponsibly perform their jobs and tasks. You cannot legislate complete safety for everyone. I am fully aware that I chance being in a terrible crash every time I drive down the road. Every time I fly, I am completely aware that the plane could crash. Do we outlaw all planes? When a plane drops from the sky, there are seldom survivors. Life happens, get on with your life. The World Trade Center was a horrible tragedy. Do we legislate no buildings can have more than a few hundred occupants at any one time?

Emporia-the modern Stepford. All houses should look alike, all people should dress alike and act alike. If Theresa Walters and her ilk have their way; Emporia shall become a Stepford society. These people stop at nothing. Should she get her way on this. She shall lead a new ban on something else and inch by inch she shall strip Emporia of ALL their freedoms.

What if: They pass a city ordinance that all homes must be white with black trim? An ordinance that noone can smoke on their own front porch? An ordinance that all Emporians must be in bed between the hours of 9p.m.-5a.m.; unless working? Rediculous; you say. If these people are allowed an inch, they will take away your freedoms inch by inch. It all boils down to Your Freedom to make your choices with Your property! I believe Iowa (or some state up north) has a law that you cannot smoke while driving. If you want to smoke; you must pull over and park. There are places in these United States that it is illegal to drive and use your cell phones; unless, you use hands free. All these ordinances are to allegedly protect us from each other. Life happens; deal with it. There is no way of completely protecting everyone from each other.

Red Robin????????? It is a very overpriced hamburger joint. I ate at the one in KC, out of curiosity and found it good and intriguing. However; who can $12-$15 per person for a hamburger meal?

The tax district approach means the sales tax will be slightly higher on sales from that district. This pays for the improvements and incentives. Hays did that once Home Depot bought land out by WalMart. They use the extra taxes generated from the businesses in that district to pay the costs of the roads, sewer and all other costs associated with that specific developement area. It still seems idiotic to me to draw more retail to share the limited sales money without first drawing more industry that will employ people earning the kind of money to increase overall sales in the city/county. Right now the pie is only a certain size with several huge pieces already eaten from it. They will only cut the remaining slices into smaller portions and it will force some to shut their doors.

As for the 6 month prediction I made: McCain age and health are a major factor. As for Obama; (I know I'll be accused of racism, but here it goes) We have progressed a great deal but I certainly don't believe we have progressed to the point that some psychotic won't assassinate Obama prior to taking office, IF, he were to be elected. I hate to think of what situation we would be in had Al Gore won. I know for certainty had they pulled the 9/11 while Reagan was in office; we would have bombed and owned Iraq before the week was out. As for Bin Laden, we had our chance at him under the Clinton administration and passed on it, so 9/11 occurred due to Clinton's inaction.
