You might remember that the cupboard was almost bare
when Prince got here and Quit picking on my Alma Mater
Cornell- they don't compare I agree, but they don't offer
scholarships to jocks either!!!!

Great Idea ! What you don't realize is that the plant itself
doesn't have freezer space, that's all next door at the Cold
Storage facility. So that would have to be the location for
any frozen meats.

Hey Kelley --what have you been smoking? 1,500 jobs in Emporia is a real disaster not to say crippling. You seem to think that this event is just a walk in the park? Why don't you and the city officials admit the truth- this is a heck of a blow, but I'll agree that it may not be fatal, but it's sure damaging and will be for time to come.
To those considering a speciality operation that might work i.e. Fanestils, but not in the building at its present site, you need something smaller than a building that operated two shifts and killed 4,000 head a day. The best reason that I can think of for not removing equipment from this slaughter is that it is probably outdated, not designed to fit elsewhere or wornout, normally anything usable is salvaged when an operation of this type is closed.

It isn't poor decisions by incompetent managers, as a retired
federal employee, I can say that it doesn't take a genius
to figure out that this day was coming. The cattle numbers
in this area as far as fed, finished and ready for slaughter
are not even close to what this plant needed to operate.
I personally was surprised in the rounds of plant closings
in the past that this plant had escaped shut-down until now.

Just looking at the code proposal, item 11 strikes me as a
potential money pit- a lot of places don't have ground fault
outlets in the kitchen areas or baths especially older units.
wasn't required years ago, got into this on a property I
had in KCK, had to update both units of a duplex. Fortunately
I could install. Outlets of this type start at about $10.00 and
go up from there, then figure the cost for an electrician per
hour and very many units @ 2 outlets minimum can add
up in a hurry.

Too bad these people and regular bike riders fail
to obey rules of the road; I see too many of them
running stop signs, riding on the wrong side etc.
