I don't like the blue either, since it's the home of ESU basketball how about some yellow and black? This would be a good poll question.

cherry- I think the whole point is that you need to stand silent while the National Anthem is being recited. Don't argue it - just do it. Thanks

No - it's not the kids fault, I am just saying that the parents need to wise up and if they can't afford to feed a child then stop having them....

I'm really tired of hearing about all the free lunches, etc being provided. It's frustrating that people like me and my family work hard & our hard earned money is what ends up paying for all that free stuff. If you can't afford for your child to eat then don't have children! It's as easy as that.

Usay said: In 25 years, there will be a shift in who is the majority , so prepare yourself for a change !
How about these immigrants prepare for a change....the change should be that we stop catering to these people and insist that English is our language and it is the language that they shall speak while in school, at work, or taking tests here in the UNITED STATES where ENGLISH is the language. Learn it or get out.

Hey Maxine, what is the price tag on these trikkes?

hey USAY.... They didn't have any trouble getting "comfortable" in this country so they can get "comfortable" with the test in ENGLISH...America's NATIVE language.

Way to go Mr. Helbert....I agree completely that if an American went to another country to attend school or work it would be expected for that person to learn their language. It is not benficial for immigrants to come to America and not learn English. They can still keep their heritage and traditions, everyone should have that, but when one goes to live and learn in another country, one should learn and accept the language that is spoken.

I'm not sure why they would be taking over the Diamonds by Design building unless there has been additional growth in the services they are providing in the Emporia area and are hiring more workers. They actually were busting at the seams in the Extension Office building at one point because not only does it house the business office but foster care workers and a few other staff as well. I'm not sure what's going on there. When they obtain more foster homes in the Emporia and surrounding areas that could mean hiring more foster care workers.
They have done pretty well about consolidating in Topeka by having everyone in one building and that is a HUGE office with a lot of people in it. With that said, maybe some of the consolidation has helped get Peg the posh office she has in Overland Park, KS.

Check this out.....Chapman was almost swept away by a tornado yet they are still going to celebrate the 4th and allow people to have fireworks in their town. Emporia should be ashamed.
Fireworks shows will go on in Chapman

CHAPMAN — Despite piles of rubble and plenty to do in the cleanup of wreckage left by a huge tornado, Chapman is dotted with fireworks stands.
“I figured we needed a little celebration after what we’ve been through,” said Mayor Bob Gaetz.
He convinced the city council that no harm would come from residents setting off fireworks a safe distance away from the damaged areas of town.
The EF3 tornado on the night of June 11 killed a 21-year-old woman and damaged or destroyed 60 percent of the town’s buildings.
Among Chapman residents selling fireworks are the police chief, the superintendent of schools and a family doctor.
