Random drug tests not required
Are police officers not on a random drug screen like the rest of the city employee's? Are any of the court house employee's subject to a randon drug check? It seems to me that the people that need to be tested, law makers, law enforcement, and the unemployed are NOT, but the average working people are. It doesn't make sense to me.

Bill introduced to legalize marijuana in Kansas
If they don't want to legalize pot they should at least decriminanize small amounts. It should be a fine at most, for small amounts for personal consumption. Many states are changing their laws in this direction.

Governor proposes tax hikes
Why don't they tax the internet sales of products? It is a revenue source that deserves to be taxed. We have to pay taxes for everything else that we buy. It would also help the local stores if they were on a more level playing field.

Blight Be Gone
I can tell you what happens when you clean up an eyesore in the city limits of Emporia. I now pay TWICE the property tax that I did for my property. That is how this city treats a property owner that is trying to make Emporia a nicer place to live.

A good use
My idea is to install tubes into south Weaver St and raise it up to allow a way to town during flooding. The city has talked about a truck route before and this route could be used for that too.

Recreation commission discusses mill levy increase
Maybe they should just raise their fees so that the ones that use the facilities pay for the needed inprovements.
