A part of my childhood had died. The Jackson 5 were the Jonas Brothers of my day. The Teen Beat magazines I bought and kept and read over and over again were the "information highway" to young kids back then. Michael Jackson, Donny Osmond and David Cassidy were the posters I had in my room growing up. When I finally took them down, I rolled them up together with admiration and thoughts of those fabulous days gone by, but MJ stayed on----stronger in his musical talent each and every year, The year 1982 is still one of the best ever-----I graduated from college, got married and bought the "Thriller" album and played it all the time. My sons have come to respect and enjoy MJ's music and I am so glad that they got that chance. The greatest pop star in history---without a doubt---is and always will be Michael Jackson!!! Rest in Peace my childhood friend!

It is too bad we have to cut from school budgets that affect 100 percent of the students in USD 253 and the QUEST program is an after-school program that does not benefit ALL of the students in this school district. Why do you have a PBB team to make the recommended cuts and you don't follow through with their recommendations?

Our family has avoided the big new roundabout since it opened. We have been using the Admire interchange since they started all of the construction. We will continue to use it since the roundabout is dangerous. (Dangerous--- not because it is a roundabout, but because a lot of drivers have NO IDEA how to use them!)

Gazette Sports staff--
Is there a reason you did not do an 11-Man All-Area team and a separate 8-Man All-Area team this year? For the last few years, there have been two separate All-Area teams. With such a wide range of talent and such a large area to cover, this may be something you may want to do again in the future.

This is great news----not only for 2009 graduates and beyond, but for those who graduated in 2008 and took advantage of the voucher for the Fall 2008/Spring 2009 semesters! What a wonderful way to use the money that was set aside to help the students in these counties. Investing in these student's futures is always a win-win situation!

Congratulations to Kenneth Bronson on another fine football season! To have a quarterback who can throw the ball well and run the ball well is a great asset to any team. Rossville is a good football team and they did a good job of preparing for the NHS passing game. Congratulations to the NHS wildcats on a great season.

It is too bad this team waited until the last regular-season game to do some passing. Changing it up between the run game and the passing game is what works for most football teams.

Has anyone thought about the chance that Interstate Brands and Tyson may totally pull out of this town for good? How many people will be left to shop at Lowe's then? The TIF will be left for the rest of us to deal with. I enjoy shopping at Lowe's and would like to have one closer but at what expense? The City Commission needs to look into the existing businesses we have in town to see how long they will stick around if Tyson and Interstate Brands move out. Just another thing to think about while trying to decide Lowe's fate.

On a lighter note about the smoking ban..........how about banning heavy perfume/cologne wearers or those individuals who don't shower/bathe and have bad BO? How about those individuals who pass gas in public places? Just a little something else to think about when going out. If it is a privately owned establishment and they pay their taxes, their freedom in choosing smoking/non-smoking should be up to them---anyone can chose whether or not to go to these places. It is ultimately up to the individual.
