Youth attendance dropped at pool

And yes Clint Bowyer fund paid for kids again this year but unless I missed it, it was not nearly as well advertised this year. I took my kids there one afternoon I was off work and was surprised that they got in free...nice surprise.

Ummmm I'm not sure but wasnt the pool in the same spot as last year?? So the argument of where it's at is why attendance dropped THIS year is a little silly. Now....with that said the construction is a bit of a pain...but we also had a wet and cooler June than usual....and it doesnt help that it's only open until 6 every day...and one of the hottest weekends it was closed for a swim meet....and then in the peak of the hotest part of the year it's closed for good. I would like to go this weekend with temps forecasted to be in the high 90's. I would have loved to have my son's birthday party there on sunday but again...it's closed.

One dead, two injured in KTA crash

SEATBELTS!! I know that not everyone would be saved by wearing seatbelts but I would venture to guess more lives would be saved in crashes wearing them than not. I know everyone has the choice (even though it is the law)....as you should but this is sad....not much of a chance when you are ejected from a vehicle. Feel sad for the families involved.

Driving Dilemma

Captain - do you know if your child has to be a member of the school district in Lebo in order to participate in the classes....I tried looking it up and could not find anything about Lebo and driving education. Maybe I am not typing in the same thing in the search engine.

AAAs beat Blue Valley West to win Zone

Thank you wildcat nurse....high school baseball is over pretty much over by the time school is out.....parents and private donations help fund the legion maybe if justaflush would get off the pot and spend some time outside around these sports they might know what they are talking about. Someone's size has no bearing on how good of a coach they are or a player.

Living locally

Interesting thought......I was engaged in a conversation about this and someone was telling me the other day that they once worked for a department in the city (not emporia) and they did not have a rule like this. They said that the people who handled some of the equipment within the department did not always do so with respect (not taking care of trucks and such) and when asked about it they responded "I don't live in the city, so I don't pay for them what do I care..." I am not sure which side of the fence I sit on this topic as I work for the federal goverment so I guess I could live anywhere....but thought that was an interesting point of view.

14-U state tourney begins tonight

Good luck to all players this weekend. Emporia All Stars baseball age groups 9, 10, 12, 13, 14/15 all made it to their state tournaments that begin today as well. A lot of talented kids playing ball this weekend!

Charges filed in armed robbery

First of all I don't think anyone is blaming or talking about their family. They were busted red-handed. They had to be talked out of the apartment by police officers....I think that the only thing we can all agree on is that if they are found guilty we can only hope that the punishment fits the crime.
