Your misunderstanding my comment. I understand what your are saying, I know there are things that need to be corrected but sometimes when you try and correct them you are the one that looses out. I was just trying to comment on the fact that sometimes people are sent out for correct reasons, not because the Doctor can't handle their problem but because the supporting staff cannot handle the problem .I could go on but i'll stop at that. It would be nice if all this would end up benefiting the people of Emporia, their hospital, all the health care professionals that spend so much time doing what they are doing.

In response to the above comment.....sometimes patients are sent on to other hospitals because they feel the patient will get better care for what they have going on at the other hospital. Not because they (the Doctor) can't take care of them. There are many factors that go into the decision to send someone to another facility. Now if you are talking about beyond their level of expertise as a reason to send then the statement would be a true one. There are Doctors here in Emporia that give high levels of care.

Quit bashing the doctors and get back to the subject at hand - Dr Barnetts letter.

A bandaid hospital is not what Emporia needs.Believe me, if any of your love ones need immediate medical attention where time is of extreme importance you will wish you had a hospital that could take care of the problem and at least if we couldn't take care of the problem, stabilize the patient. Sometimes driving to surrounding cities is not an option. So, use what has happened as an opportunity to fix the problems at hand and move on. Yes, open communication is needed for all....nurses, doctors, patients, etc. Realize that there are problems to be addressed and address them. Instead of slamming the hospital, the doctors, etc. Move for improvement instead of taking a middle school attitude and call names at one another. Address the issues at hand and make it a place where you feel safe. Administration, listen to patients but when you are listening include all involved so everyone will learn. Make it better.....not worse by setting up the walls and only addressing the negative.

I understand forgiveness and sometimes thats very hard to do, but please don't forget all this was illegal and needs to be made an example of so kids and adults alike will understand breaking the rules is not tolerable and the consequences of breaking those laws are being experienced now with the very unnecessary death of a good individual.

Lets think people...Try improving something you don't like or have a problem with instead of critical comments. You need your county hospital for many reasons and are lucky you have it here. Oh, and in case you didn't know or realize it...heres a news flash for you___ you will be taken to Newmans if you run into a problem at the surgical hospital. Soooo, if you want something to improve you might try going at it a different way. A more intelligent way. Work to improve, not to tear down. Someday, when you have a problem you may regret your decision if you don't.
