A difficult step

Let's see, talking about raises for State employees, however, aren't we still waiting to hear if they are going to have to take furloughs...without pay? I bet that if you ask any State worker that has a threat of a furlough, that they would be grateful to keep their salary where it is at and eliminate the possiblity for furloughs, rather than taking a raise and still getting a furlough. That really makes a lot of sense to me...sarcasim!

Drug test your child at home

What happened to parents parenting in their own home? First of all, the parents who are suspcious of their childs possible drug use are probably thinking of the times when they were growing up...smoking a left handed cigarette or two...during lunch break at school, or after school with their friends...because it was just plain ol' fun. Indeed times have changed and history has proven to repeat itself.

County tables employee fitness plan

Great idea YY4U. By the way, I apologize for my previous post. I have the utmost respect for any veteran or any person serving our country.

The city/county could make a deal with ESU to use the facilities on the campus. Maybe some undergrad could conduct research on fitness program participation rates of rural government workers or something like that. It might not cost anything.

"these types of proposals are indicative of a government (meaning government employees too) out of touch with reality"

According to you, reality means firing the fatties. You must have gone to college cuz you're sooooo goshdurn smart. I bet you don't work for that darn government place either because they're all dadgum idiots! Am I right, huh, huh?

Wow, from what I have read in the paper, it was just a proposal. Nothing has been passed. Don't have a coronary yet people. Speaking of coronary, have you had a physical lately?

Sell the courthouse, keep the fairgrounds! That's how it goes right? Get a new slogan, that has been around for, gee, 7 years? Let's hear something new!

Stand up, fight back!

I quit Cable a long time ago (approx 3 years ago) and switched to Dish Network in a bundle package with ATT. I pay $90 (including taxes/fees) per month for Dish Network, home phone and internet package. All on one bill which makes things much easier. I also get at least 3 weeks before my bill is due...unlike Cable One used to do. They would send the bill and it would be due that next week. They sent out a salesman a few months ago and he was pushy and tried to make me believe that he could provide me with a better package. I asked him how much it would be for what I have now, all he could say was "wow, but you probably lose reception don't you". Desperate...yes...MONOPOLY...yes!!

Christie project gets city approval

Is Ms. Harclerode the only Emporia teacher that has been named a Master Teacher in Emporia history? If not, are there days named for every other Master Teacher from Emporia?

The wrong road

Crack: I have read so much on this stinking smoking ban and your "screen name" is always attached to everything regarding the ban. If you are so proud of it and such a supporter of the ban that you proclaim you are, why wouldn't you sign your name in support of it just as rbow and josiesbar signs their names in opposition of the ban? Just some food for thought?
