Drug test your child at home
Seriously?! If you need a pi@@ test to know how screwed up your kid is, you've been living in a dream world.
This is complete crap! EDA is advocating invadaing the privacy of a majority of GOOD KIDS. Parents. You know in your gut whether your kid is screwed up or not. If your gut feeling tells you that your kid is doing drugs, then by all means, test them and get it under control.
If you are a parent that continually watches and revels in your kid's achievments and endeavors, simply tell them how proud of them you are. (Try not to tear up when you tell them. But if you do, it actually will mean a little more to them later on....)
These people want to focus on the kids that go astray. There are so many others that are SO uplifting! My kids make me proud each and every single day. They may or may not have done anything "bad" during high school, but they are on their way to becoming awesome adults! I consider them my best friends in the World.
I found that kids thrive on trust. Yeah. They're going to rebel and have bad attitudes and all the other stuff teenagers experience. But they want to be trusted. When they break that trust, they have to be disciplined harshly and immediately. That's what teaches them the value of trust.
If in today's world, my kid gets in trouble and I immediately subject them to a drug test. The bond of trust is broken. Nothing is ever the same after that.
Having a PIZZA PARTY to celebrate home drug testing is NOT RIGHT! Drug testing is a LAST RESORT, NOT good parenting. We should not celebrate the advent of "EASY" home testing for drug use.
The people that think this is a good idea are frankly "STUPID"! Don't let yourself get caught up in the political correctness. Trust your gut feeling and be a parent accordingly. Make your kids a success story! Love them and trust them from day one. It will make all the difference and you'll never have to worry about buying a drug testing kit.

Undemocratic tactics
Give me frickin' break! The left wing wrote the book on busing people to political events. You think it is "undemocratic" when concerned citizens show up and voice their opinion while your SEIU brethern are the ones being bused in to stiffle the voices that disagree with you. That sir, is undemocratic!

Smoking ban takes effect quietly
I it ironic that on the day of the vote my eyes were burning from all the smoke in the air and when I went to Bruffs to eat that evening the air was completely clear. That illustrated the smoking ban's needless intervention into private lives.

Anti-ban group submits petitions
If this ban passes, here's what comes next -- Teresa and pals will tell you what you can do in your own home.
Below are the first two paragraphs from New York Times story dated Jan. 2, 2009. I've included the link below:
"Parents who smoke often open a window or turn on a fan to clear the air for their children, but experts now have identified a related threat to children’s health that isn’t as easy to get rid of: third-hand smoke."
"That’s the term being used to describe the invisible yet toxic brew of gases and particles clinging to smokers’ hair and clothing, not to mention cushions and carpeting, that lingers long after second-hand smoke has cleared from a room. The residue includes heavy metals, carcinogens and even radioactive materials that young children can get on their hands and ingest, especially if they’re crawling or playing on the floor."

Emporia Parents told ‘Energy Drinks’ bad for kids
I guess I'm wondering how many lives were cut short by those grease soaked Wendy's hamburgers Teresa peddled for so many years.............

Share your view
I'd tell him that while he's spending $150 million on the most extravagant inauguration in history and dinning with Oprah, I resent the fact that he continues to tell the people in this country that have risked everything to build businesses, create employment and provide health care and benefits to workers that they aren't doing their share. I'd tell him to put his money where his mouth is!

Ban opponents near goal
I've changed my mind about the smoking ban. I've heard from reliable sources that several completely capable adults walked into bars and restaurants in the last few weeks and couldn't figure out how to turn the f#$# around and walk back out the door when they caught a whiff of smoke or something that might have smelled something like smoke.
I was against the ban, but now that I know that there are actually intelligent adults in this community that can't make a simple decision for themselves without encroaching on other citizens' rights, I think I have no choice but to support the ban.
Before, I thought that reasonable, responsible adults could make their own determination about what is right for themselves and their families. Now, I know that's not the case.

Smoking ban passes
Can't believe people are cheering that 3 commissioners trampled the rights of private business owners just so they wouldn't have to exercise their own personal choice of which restaurant to go to. UnFrickin'Believable!

Commission sets vote on smoke ban
So far, after months of debate, I have yet to hear ONE SINGLE proponent of this intrusion on the rights of private business reveal ONE SINGLE place in Emporia, Kansas where ONE SINGLE citizen is exposed to ONE SINGLE breath of second-hand smoke that that citizen cannot avoid by exercising ONE SINGLE ounce of personal choice.
Our commisioners should be ashamed of themselves if they get pushed into passing this most needless and foolish erotion of personal freedom. Not only will they take away rights from business and property owners, they will take away the right of all citizens to make their own decisions and choose what's right for themselves.
