Emporia wake up!
Hanlin and the commissioners need to go. I call for an audit of all money(s) spent since Zimmerman came to town.
When you look at the South side of Emporia. Little Mexico, as the locals call it-you can see that the commissioners have no interest in funding any street rehab.
I wonder if that is because there are low income and ethnic folks on that side of town. They don't count.
People lets organize and have town hall conversation on these issues. Keep in mind that the commissioners are better off keeping us dumb.
FREE EMPORIA FROM THE CHAINS OF FOOLS!

When will Emporia wake up? Hanlin and the rest should give the public plenty of notice. Why Not?
It is good to see Hanlin having to answer to the LAW.
I say to everyone-time to get Hanlin and the rest out and put honest folks in- wake up Emporia!

roger-what tax revenues-what portion? Wouldn't this mean higher taxation?
Underscore-how well do you know Westar? Their fingers are in this pie. They do have an interest in all power facilities.

Kan-you have it right!
Yeah, Emporia has become a town that sticks it to the people. That should be the motto.
I wonder why the Gazette doesn't take a survey-asking all of us what we think and who we do or do not trust in local government?

Bjnemp-
That’s right. Emporia has always exploited people. Those jobs should be coming. Westar is the leader in sticking it to the unsuspecting. Their new plant and their old ones in town are built around the naive. Keep it that way; after all you don’t want a plant near you, nor do I. Let the churches pray for those suckers.

oh, please-those of us who worked at that plant know what we are talking about.

Momus,
You are Right! What in the hell is wrong with everybody. The same mistakes over and over. What about a townhall meeting to discuss this and the need for comprehensive management.
Zimmerman sure has spent $$$$$$. Has anyone checked Zimmermans resume? He has managed a city before, right? Did that city go into the red because of one bad decision after another.

I can see everyone's point-but it is a fact that Westar Energy does not care who they hurt-one thing is for sure these plants will be in areas where the surrounding residents will be easy to exploit. After all, if people are poor and illiterate-why not build toxic plants near them. Sen. Barnett would not allow one in his area. Whose going to help "those" people anyway-stick it to those of the low end of the human scale-we are Americans that is what we do.

You shold have heard how Larie Schoap talked down to the citizens of Emporia. Who does she thing she is-we don’t need her to blame us. Thanks to all who came out and told Zimmerman the truth. The City did not make all the meetings and information known and available until we had to voice our concerns. Looks to me like our Zoning Board needs to be watched like a hawk. I will not do business with Schoap after last night.
