I do appreciate the Gazette (Mr. Kelly) printing my letter, but I am disappointed that Mr. Kelly would use a title like "Bah Humbug". I am afraid we are in for some very difficut times. I am only trying so say something that I think Mr. Kelly could be warning his readers about........This is not the first time Mr. Kelly has treated a letter from me in this manner. The last time he printed my letter on Thanksgiving Day, I believe, and used a similarly derogatory title.
On Bah! Humbug!

This article causes me to lose some respect for Mr. Powell. Mr. Kelly is like the media in their propensity to fawn over the democrats. As Americans, we should realize that both parties put perpetuation of their party and their carrers above good of the America. Kind of makes me sick.

The city is certainly hurting for money. As a citizen & veteran, I certainly would have approved of a public fireworks display, but can understand the saving of money. One question I would like to have answered, "Did the city expend any capital for "Cinco de Mayo"?

Who cares how these guys campaigns are financed. I just wish we had someone to vote for that might straighten things out. We have gone from the country with the greatest assets to the greatest debton nation that this world has ever seen. Our country is bankrupt, & we talk about how the Republicans (or Democrats for that matter) finance their campaigns. Get a life. Neither one of these candidates have or never will, for that matter, address something that will begin to bring our factories back, or get rid of the albatrosses (over regulation, high taxes, government intervention in all aspect of our lives, no control of our borders, and freedoms being lost every day). The controlled media has given us these two "never done anything to strengthen our nation's economy guys". How can anyone possibly get enthused over them? Ho hum, business as usual, nationalize things, give tax rebates, tax more, nationalize more (oh, did I already say that), and go deeper into debt.
. Sorry, I guess I got bored waiting for the public to wake up to the fact that we are neck deep in real trouble. Maybe we should discuss how we are going to finance our debt?

I am in total agreement about vicious animals. Some action needs to be taken about these animals before something happens. This brings to mind the time when our meter reader complained about our dog having bitten him. When I stated to the contact at the power company that our dog could not have been the offender, she explained to me that owners did not always know what their dog was doing when they weren't around. I asked to have meter reader to please come to our house to see what he was accusing. Our dog was very small & could hardly bite a grown person & the meter reader very quickly exonerated our dog.
Back to the subject. Everytime laws are passed, we lose freedom. So many laws have been enacted & the government (mostly federal) have usurped so much power, can we still call this the "land of the free"? I cringe everytime I hear the highway patrol threaten me (on televison) with their "Click it or ticket" message. So much with being free. Total bans take away more freedom.

For some reason the Gazette's editor likes Kathleen Sebelius to the same degree that he liked our former, disgraced attourney general Morrison. They both are tied in with Dr. Tiller, the Wichita abortionist. Now there's a trio to tie to, Sebelius, Morrison, & Tiller! Back to why the editor seems to like Kathleen Sebelius. Perhaps he just likes the game "Don't Drop the Soap", that was being sold out of the governors mansion.
I would agree that the governor has stuck to her guns about her beliefs (vetoing the proposed coal fire plant). Too bad the same purposeful conviction could be said about a bank robber. Purposeful conviction is not necessarily a good trait.
As far as your quote "When Washington has failed, the states and the people have suffered", Kathleen Sebelius would be right in tune with our congress. Congress has blocked any drilling for oil, exploring for oil, building nuclear power plants, or building any refineries that would help our energy situation. Kathleen seems to be fitting right in. The coal fired plant proposal would have been a great benefit to Kansas' economy and would have increased our energy by using a source of energy abundant in Kansas. She thinks it would benefit her, personally, to be block it, so she has. The people of Kansas lose.

We don't smoke, don't like smoke, but we do believe in keeping this a free country. There are entirely too many people that think they need to impose their will on the rest of us.

Yeah, give the thug a chance, another chance, and another chance. That certainly wasn't the first one of his employees he put the "make" on (while he was married). If anyone believes that he didn't try to get his mistress to "spy" for him, tell me again how pigs can fly. He's a thug.

Bailing anyone out is like patching a worn out tire. If anyone remembers, the air was let out of our tires when our manufacturing was exported. If we had listened to Ross Perot, maybe we would have some of that air left, instead of the sucking sound of air (jobs) moving across our border. The bigger question isn't whether to keep things going with our grandchildrens money, but how to get manufacturing (jobs) back into our bankrupt country. But, let's listen to Mr. Kelly talk about whether or not to bail out our auto industry. Gotta love NAFTA and "Free Trade", compliments of our central banks. Let's send them some more taxpayer money.
