Sounds like Mr Klumpe is the way to go! I wish I could help, but the only thing I ever sprayed on an aircraft was firefighting foam.

4137,
I will contact them on the 27th when I return to town. If not them, I'll see if Ft Riley would like to get in on this. Feels good to have a mission again.
Are you guys going to be in town for Memorial Day?

OK, this may be a long shot, but there is (or was) a Chinook (CH-47) helicopter company at Johnson County Airport from the Army Reserve. I wonder if they would like a weekend drill "training mission" to sling load it to their airfield and use a hangar there?
I would hate to have the DOD reclaim this aircraft, as this was done with a former USAF jet that was at the airport in my last home. This was depressing, and the reason it was removed was because it looked like hell from neglect.
4137 - Would you mind if I contacted the unit and ask if they would be interested?

Savannah - you are 100% correct!
jwnks - the ambulance crews are required to inform you about insurance issues. This is so you can make an informed decision about your options. The doctor is not your "boss". The decision is yours!
As far as Newman's, yes there's room for improvement. Having been in Topeka, I hear the same thing about Stormont and St.Francis too. The change has to come from the demand of the population of the people it serves. It is not going to happen overnight, maybe not even next year, and I do agree that there are lot of services that should be available that are not.
As far as IV's on children go, they can be difficult, especially after previous sites go bad, because that now limits your available sites. I/O (intraossous) should have been an option with a critically ill child, although it sounds horrible when it's explained to a patient /parent. But it can be a life-saver.

Yes there has. Your assumptions are correct as far as the research goes. I am still hopefull that maybe a few will think of this someday and avoid making a bad decision.

I have an idea, if you have a concern, call the Fire Chief at the FD. The number's in the book.

I'll tell you what difference it makes. Ever lose a loved one to trauma? I have, and the LAST thing you want to see publicly displyed is what-ifs and inuendos.
You are obvioulsy not involved with what goes on with emergency services and dispatching, all you saw is what you saw, so why even bring it up?

2 miles west of Emporia would not be the station where the rescue vehicle is located. Perhaps they were going to another call? Perhaps when they got to a call they were not needed, then they were sent to another call? Perhaps the vehicles you saw had nothing to do with this call at all?
Perhaps this is not the appropriate place to discuss this????

Genocide? Hey Eric, eat %^$#. I spent 14 months in that country and genocide is the LAST thing the US is doing to the Iraqis. Saddam was taking care of the genocide issue- we stopped it. If you havn't been there to see first hand what is REALLY going on, shut the hell up.
Alfalfa, I would like to buy you dinner.
