So what part of the ESU experience was the Gazette trying to put out for the public to see with the choice of pics on the front page today? I see...come to ESU and sit out front of your frat house and drink beer everytime someone honks. No wonder everybody knows everybody... everyone just sits outside enjoyng this great weather drinking beer . Before I get flamed I know it happens and was a very funny sign to put out....I'm just asking if thats what Emporia or ESU wants on the front page of the newspaper that parents of students who will be making the choice for schools to see. Not the image I would want if I were president.....

I'm just wondering if the picture on the front page of the Gazette was the image that ESU wants to put out for parents considering where to send/spend their kids and money. A few more students needed for what learning or sitting around in lawn chairs drinking beer. We all know it goes on but again front page advertising which is what most articles and pictures are should be thought through a little more...surely there were more than just those two pics to pick from.

I have the solution....give the street sweeper police powers and a box to throw strays in. For a city that is so strapped for cash I see the street sweeper running all the time. How many street sweeping machines does the city have...are there city employees that this is their only duty ...If we have only a couple of these machines then they dont cover the entire city before they come back down my block and the only thing they are sweeping this time of year is cotton wood. Hell, let them write tickets to all the speeders through the school zone around the downtown area and we could line the streets with gold.

Notice they didn't take a broken piece of pottery and try to corner and hurt the mountain lion...why not chicken **its. Sorry but stuff like this drives me crazy. I brought my family here almost five yeas ago to get away from "big city" happenings and it makes me mad to have to realize it happens everywhere. Within the past week another fellow Emporian who drives the DVA van for our veterans had his shed and garage burned and his personal vehicle vandalized by someone...shamefull...Karma all I can say...Karma

As one of the first people to comment about the picture I feel I need to respond... my comment was wasn't there a better picture of the days events celebrating the return of the students. One pic showed some girls getting some t-shirts and the other was the keg boys. What was your intent with the pics...I dont believe you were trying to show the "bad" with the good. I dont for one minute think you were trying to start a public drinking discusion. If you were trying to show a possitive pic of the students returning then another pic of students at the celebration would have been much better. Then we get to the editorial about spread the good word about ESU well one should practice what one preaches don't you think. The story wasnt a "bad" story it was just a poor choice of pics my opinion. Thats basically what the editorials are peoples opinions and it looks like you took it as a personal attack.Sounds to me like your a little touchy. I didn't see any pics of people from the fair who were drinking, I didnt see any pics of the drunks at Beefest,,,why didnt you report on both sides of those events as well, good with the bad. Now, like I said earlier...no one was attacking the views of the newspaper, of course you have to report the good with the bad, the comment was wasn't there a better pic of the day for the front page which I am sure there was you just failed to pick it for print.
On Not cheering, just reporting
