If someone is elderly or has poor hearing they might not be able to readily tell their grandchild's voice from another person's. Who knows, I wouldn't send the money I would say suck it up you did the crime so you figure it out.

There is a petition going around. It was on the counter in the smoke shop when I was in there the other day. That said I do smoke but I don't smoke in restuarants and almost always request a seat in the none smoking section. However that is my choice and I think we should allow people to chose not dictate to them. I frequent several places that are none smoking and it doesn't bother me. I don't smoke in my house or around my children because that seems the best decision for me. Thats my choice.

Good job on the signs. The kids are really proud of themselves for making these signs and distributing them to the local businesses. Thank you

In Chase County we have had our Town Hall meeting. We had some youth from the community show up. I took my 12 yr old daughter and let her listen to the speakers. I hope she learned something from it. I did a lot of stupid things when I was younger. However I want my children to be better educated than I was, I hope they will not do some of the stupid things that I did. I talk to my kids a lot about drinking and the fact that they will not be old enough to drink until they are 21. We do not keep alcohol in our house so my kids don't have easy access to it that way. I believe a lot of prevention starts with the parents, they should educate their kids about alcohol and what it can do to your brain. The kids should also be made aware that their brains are not fully developed until their about 25, I was not told of any of this when I was a teen. Also if you do a lot of drinking and are an athlete it can effect your performance and not in a good way. Basically adults should not be scared of being honest with with teens and just tell the kids the facts. JMO

Good story, maybe I'll try something like that as my parents love to metal detect.

I apologize for my last post being off subject. I am a gun owner and would use it to defend me and mine. I don't believe this article was profiling any group just stating the facts. I do believe from what I read this could have turned out much worse. Very fast thinking on the part of Mr. Waddell and the others. May God always bless you.

This is for barbara61. I live in Chase County and I don't see the sheriff's department making money from drug labs. As a matter of fact I believe the sheriff we have now is try very hard to solve the problems of drugs in our community. If you want to help with the drug issue in Chase county you could always help with the Chase County Drug Free Action Team. The phone number to contact them is 273-6750. This is also the local youth technology center which does provide alternate things for the youth and population at large to do.

I was just talking with some friends of mine. We all volunteer our time on our local ambulance service. Now granted we do not live in Emporia but this was brought up. Women are not allowed to touch Somali men and your not supposed to look them in the eye. My question is if I can't touch a Somali man or look at him how am I supposed to take care of him? Are the rules different if they are injured? I would like to know the answer to these questions.
Once again I support the movement that you all are creating. I think I would like to be present at the next meeting if I can.

I haven't posted on this aticle yet but have spent the last couple of days reading all of the posts. One of the reasons I hadn't posted is that I don't live in Emporia but I think you all are coming up with some great questions that deserve answers. I have talked to several people who live in my community and most have quit shopping/going to Emporia because of the way they are treated by the Somali men. It's easier to go to Newton or Wichita.
Those of us that live in the outlying communities are behind you 100%. I have personnelly been treated like crap by Somali men and I think I deserve some respect. Just the fact that I'm human should be a reason to give me respect. I am also a veteran and a mother so I feel I should have some respect for those reasons also.
Before anyone like usay says that I'm a racist, I don't think this is a race issue at all, and I would have to say I don't think I'm a racist as my husband is a different race than me and so my children are of mixed races.
I do believe this is a tax/money issue.

This sounds just like my house yesterday except it was my husband and the nine year olds not wanting to share Guitar Hero. I have to agree the better move for them in Over the Hedge.
