I wish the Coles luck. I can think of four businesses that have been at that location in recent years. I hope they have found the magic formula to be successful. Fourth Avenue seems to be the type of establishment the Coles are emulating. I wish Fourth Avenue would have succeeded. Emporia is a tough market.

"I feel there are people in our community who have FAR too much time on their hands. They seek out other bored, unfilled people and hold meetings. They sip espresso and nibble cookies while seeking causes to pursue to fill their idle hours."
At least these people are out in public, using their real names and trying to make a change in something they believe in. Instead of filling their idle hours by having an opinion on every topic possible (all the while bringing up illegal immigration). Hmmm...

Based on the above post: admire did you put the puppies in the dumpster?

Okay, so I like to think that I'm open-minded. Beauty is in the mind of the beholder, etc. I think that people should have the right to express themselves freely, and do as they wish to their own body.
My problem is if someone ran across this art piece unsuspectingly. I hope there is a disclaimer outside of the display so people know exactly what they are in for. Seeing video of a woman miscarrying is not something I would want to see and I certainly wouldn't want to stumble upon it while trying to see some charcoal fruit basket drawings.
Something tells me in twenty years when the artsiness of the undergraduate art program at Yale wears off, she's going to have a difficult time dealing with herself.

Sorry Bj, but meth is made in the midwest right here in the good ole USA. Perhaps by some of your relatives, your neighbors relatives, or my relatives

I don't see how it's possible to create a monopoly in the newspaper industry. Can Emporia support two newspapers? I think The Gazette does a great job covering Emporia and the surrounding communities six days a week. If you think the reporting is bias, apply to be a reporter. I think you will find that no matter what the issue (or non-issue in some instances) is, someone is going to feel left out, shorted, or upset.

I have an idea that will solve the everything. Since there are a few people who spend a lot of time on this site, all day it seems, perhaps they can take over monitoring the site.
I'm all for solutions.

According to your logic it would also be in poor taste to call someone's humor simpleminded (i.e. stupid, below average intelligence, etc.) What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

I'm guessing that landofoz' comment was sarcastic. Sure there is no way to police texting while driving but there definitely is no need to encourage "capable texters."

I'm anxiously awaiting watching the dog drama play out on the ABC nightly news. I'm so glad that people are going to equate Emporia with this redneck debacle.
If the city is using this ordinance to make money, Rex could have been ticketed as early as January 1. I see him a couple of times a week with the dogs teetering in the back of his truck.
Also blackroses, it is ridiculous to think that the Gazette would include an email written by a sixteen year old. If Rex wanted to use the email, it should have been submitted to the Gazette as a letter to the editor. Furthermore, if he didn't want something to be quoted in the newspaper, it would be a good idea not to say it to a reporter.
