I miss Johnnies but the blind looks so nice from the outside! I LOVE the theme! I also love the fact that it is smoke free! I'll be sure to stop in soon :-)

It would be nice if they could compromise with us. Something like, you can have fireworks on the fourth of July but then after ten at night you will start getting ticketed for shooting them off. That way things quiet down and people that have to work the next day can get some sleep. Everyone is happy because at least we'd have the freedom to shoot them off without worrying about getting a ticket and those that need sleep would know that around ten things should be quieted down. Instead I think a lot of people are going to risk getting a ticket anyway and will have to keep looking over their shoulders to make sure the cops are not around the corner.
But whats it matter to me. I've made plans to get out of this town where I can celebrate because apparently thats what the city would like us to do.

I stand by what I wrote, so my answer to your question would be Yes.

Speak my mind
I’m so tired of debates getting turned into rich vs. the poor or east side vs. west side. This has nothing to do with money, where you live, who you are related too, what color your skin is, your education level, male or female, or your "last name"
How can you say that no one would care if it had happened to someone else? You don’t know this to be true. Not everyone is as "closed minded" as you think. Maybe you need to open your mind a little.
I did not know Beau Arndt or his family. I still cared and it didn't matter to me where he was from, that he was an "Arndt", that he was white, that his family may or may not have money. I cared because a kid was killed by accident in the prime of his life because of a mistake made by someone else.
"I am from here and know almost everyone in town and the things that go on here.” Do you really think that you know everyone here? This town has at least 25,000 people in it and I know for sure that you do not know me.
"I do see alot of ignorant stuck up rich people in Emporia that buy their way out of trouble." Tell me, what does this have to do with anything? I think you formed a negative opinion about a few "bad apples" that happen to have money and you group all rich people into one category. Not all people with money are "closed minded" and if you are thinking I must have money, I don’t.
"Stop bashing this man and forgive him."
Maybe it is time for you to stop bashing people too. You seemed to do a fairly good job of it in your comment. Maybe its time for you to do some forgiving also.
I am not a "Perfect Emporian", I do not think Kent is the "Devil", I am not "rich", I do not have a famous "last name", I'm right dab in the middle of town and I’m not "closed minded."
I am a person, who cares that someone died because someone else had a moment of bad judgment and made a mistake. I think that when you make a mistake you have to face the consequences and be responsible for your actions.
Kent made a mistake by choosing to fire into a field and by doing so it is very possible that he fired the shot that killed Arndt. He is facing the consequences of firing that shot. To me it is very probable that the shot he fired from his gun is the very same shot that killed Arndt. While the bullet cannot be matched I still feel that because he shot into the field, where Arndt was shot that the chances of someone else firing into that field at that same time is not likely.
I've learned in life that sometimes you have to agree to disagree and move on. It's doubtful that anyone will change my opinion or that I will change someone else’s. I've said my piece and if you agree with me that’s fine and I respect those who disagree with me too. The thing that is nice about life is that everyone is different and that we are entitled to our differences. So to those who I offend I do apologize but this is solely just an opinion of mine and I hope you don't mind that I shared it.

Sounds like Emporia is skipping the fourth of July this year. We should just have it removed from the calendar. Surely the city can do that since they can remove the firework display without asking us. Of course since they are taking that away why not get more strict on the laws. The city can make a boat load of money by fining all of us that want to celebrate. Yay for our Independence day! Thank you Emporia!

Whats the fourth of July without fireworks. The display was a huge community gathering. It's pretty sad that they had to cut the fireworks display. It's Independence day and our own city cannot celebrate it. We honor veterans, but we can't honor them on Independence day too? Sometimes, I wonder what this town is coming too? All these small towns can manage to come up with a little money to shoot off fireworks but a town twice there size cannot? Why didn't we get a say in this? Isn't this our community? It's annoying how a few people get to decide things for everyone else. It's going to be a sad night in Emporia without out the Booms of celebration caused by fireworks.

I have two dogs and if either one of them attacked another person I would have them put down. I will not have an animal that is violent and that would hurt someone else. I personally could not live with the guilt of having a dangerous animal. It doesn't matter how much I love or care about the dog because a human life is more important. I think people should stop and think about what is more important. The life of a person or the life of a dog? I don't care what breed of dog it is because if it attacks its not worth having. My sister and I were both attacked by chows when we were little and my parents made sure those dogs were put down so that they could never hurt anyone again. If I were attacked or my child I would make sure that dog was put down too. That is why I would treat my pets no differently if they attacked someone. I value my life and the lives of others. Sometimes you have to put people first instead of pets.

Maybe it was the article, who knows! You know that place wouldn't look half bad with a little siding or a new paint job! Whatever the case hopefully they fix it up before they rent it back out.

You know, I'd rather have the dogs in the back of the truck rather then running wild inside the vehicle. You can train your dog not to jump out of the back of the truck. When teaching our dog we took him out and at a safe speed we let him jump out. He hasn't jumped since. I think he learned his lesson. Next thing you know dogs will be required to wear seatbelts...Click it or ticket for man's best friend!
