okay, so I've read everyone's comments and this is my stance. A letter to the editor of mine was published a few years back in the emporia gazette, so you may already know my position. I used to have two pit bulls, but one of them was stolen, probably for dog fighting (yes, it happens here, it was already stolen once for that purpose). Whenever I walk the remaining one (by breed, an AmStaff), I do it with pride, because he is really an excellent dog. The viciousness level of ANY dog has more to do with its background than its breed. I have had many more dogs, and by far, Jones and Ozzie are the two of the three with the best temperament. In my family, both me and a cousin have been attacked (ATTACKED, not just bitten, as in resulting in trips to the emergency room with remaining scars) by dogs, neither of them pit bull breeds, both of them unprovoked. So please ban the deed not the breed, if anything be banned at all.

This was not told to concerned students at the high school when they asked the police officers. The story told was one of they were there for the fire drill. I know this was probably to keep the students from freaking out, but high schoolers can handle the truth, and I ask in future situations it be told.
