Yes we did make history tonight, and that is a great great thing. Everyone should be proud to be a part of this markin history. I did not vote for him but I am proud for him. He has over come alot. By Obama being elected it means that America has changed.
WhenI speak of shady characters I am not talking about Drinking drugs and what not. Look at his Rev, and all horrible things he said about this country, look at Ayers. There is a difference a huge difference their. I hope and pray that he will do good by this country, but at the same time it does scare me.
I am a hard working single parent. I have worked 80 hrs a week while going to school full time to make ends meet. I have lived off bread so my child had food. Yet i never quilfied for assistance because I wasno poor enough. I have saved my money, spent it wisely, invested what I can. He can not keep the line strait on what income level he is going to raise tax's. I do not believe that someone working at McD's should make the same income as a teacher, nor do I believe that a teacher should make the same income as a Dr. The way that obama has been talking that is what he wants to do. I have worked my tail off to be where I am now. I started at the very bottom and am working my why up. I have no problem helping someone get on their feet, but I do have a problem helping those who just want the hand out.

Yes today america made history and we as American's should be proud that we have come to the point where we can have a person of color us our President, but it is going to be a very long a hard next 4 years as Obama's true intentions come out. It is sad though that the population did not listen to what he is wanting to do, and who he truely is. He has to many friends that are of very shady character and that scares me. I do believe that this election was based on race instead of what is best for our great country. God Bless this great country.

I have seen how a non-smoking ban has worked in wichita, and I think that they went about it the right way. Any place where minors (anyone under 18) ar allowed in there is no smoing. But is a place is a 18 to enter (bar's and clubs) than you can smoke. Both sids do have rights. Look at it this way. A smoker makes the choice to smoke on their own, but a non-smoker is forced to breath in other peoples smoke. The unfiltered smoke. The smokers by choice at least have the filter for them. I would much rather have non-smoking all around, but that is not realistic. Meet in the middle. Allow smoking at the Bar's and Club's (the 18 to enter places) and at the family places have the non-smoking ban. There needs to be places for non-smokers to go and have that smoke free enviorment, and at the same time the smokers can enjoy there smoking places. You have to be 18 to smoke anywaysso why not do it this way.

It is not the improvments the "hospital" gets. It is the level of care the patient gets. I have had major bad experinces in Empoiria. One was as simple as strep throat and the ER refusing to treat it. Telling me to go home and go to bed. I ended up in ICU and 3 weeks in a hospital (within 6 hrs of leaving the ER in empoira). All because they did not want to give a antibiotic. There is a lack of communication and care. Yes some of the nurses are great, i will say that. But once a bad impression is set it is hard to change it. I personal would go to Burlington any day, before I go back to Newmans.

My dad is in a wheelchair, and anytime he comes to town to visit me he has the hardest problem finding spots to park. Even in the city he is from he has a lot of problems. There is NO ONE that checks them. I know my dad has called the police before about cars that are parked in the spots without permits and nothing is done ever and he has been told they wont do anything (not just emporia). Yes family members take the car with permits/plates and think that just because they car has it they have a right to park there. Well they don't. I know a few months back my daughter and I were at wall mart and this young healthy looking was loading all of this heavy things into his car with no one else there and you know it was not his permit. Well my daughter being 4 looked at me than looked at this guy and said very loud, you are not to be parked there. You are not handicapped. The look on the guys face was price less. But yes this is a huge problem. Park of the blame needs to be put on the Dr's they issue them to anyone anymore.

I agree with what everyone is saying. We do not have the means or the resources to be doing this. There are Emporians that need the jobs, that need the help. So how can we bring in all this others and support them when it is hard to support what is here already. I agree there needs to be some good old protest, getting surrounding media, and national media in on this. We need to let the city and the county know that we Emporians dont want this. But what good does it do to just complain. We want something done someone needs to step up to the plate and get the ball rolling and I promise that thousands will follow, if someone is willing to step up and get the ball rolling mybe we can shut are city/county doors to the refuggees camp.

Barbara, The Patriot Act was created to keep us safe. The ones that have problems with it are the ones that have something to hide. I have no probelm with it, I have nothing to hide. They want to listen in on my calls so be it. They want to search my bags when I fly so be it. At least I know we will be safe. The republican want a smaller goverment it is the Democrats that want a bigger goverment, and with a bigger govermnet you have less say.
