Years ago, when the crossing arms, and systems were already being replaced, the city had the option of upgrading the systems, at minimal cost, and emporia could have been a no whistle blow zone. But guess what? it never went to the public, and our decision makers don't live near the tracks. No tracks in NW Emporia, let em blow right?

gwen and others
I believe the reason that people keep bringing up the woods family, is that they are just as much a part of this as jean. It was widely known that Casey was the face and voice of madelynns. If the IRS did as they say they did, and sent letters and did till taps, and visited, then there is absolutely no way that casey did not know what was happening. Furthermore, it was his reported business acumen, as supported by the "success" of his involvement with madelynn's that made him a viable candidate for the director of Emporia Main Street.
So why is unrealistic for people to now call into question, his abilities to manage the organization.
i'm sure you are familiar with the metaphor of journalism being like an onion. many layers. have you peeled them all? Or did you just peal a few, before they make you cry, and you abandoned the investigation?
These forums, are as you claim, an opportunity for civil discussion, of the important issues facing our community. There is no reasonable expectation of fact, as we the people, are not afforded the same access as professional journalists. we speculate, you validate. It's just that simple.
i'm dieing to see some real investigative journalism from the gazette.
let's look past social alliances, and see some truth. This should not be a hands off topic.

Since when have postings gone unedited? free speech my ass!! They remove comments all the time, especially if they are against the gazette staff. Glad to see that the propaganda machine has run out of gas. maybe they'll get someone younger, less out of touch.

first of all. charged does not me convicted!
When did innocent till proven guilty disappear? oh yeah, when the courts realized that it was to expensive to give someone a fair day in court. The fact of the matter is, that the standard practice nowadays is to charge first and ask questions later. follow the court reporting in the paper, and you'll see that the way the courts ease their docket schedule, is to charge someone with multiple charges, to build the presumptive imprisonment term of the collective charges. even an innocent man with a public defender, or little money to pay one of the "in" lawyers who lunch with the county attorney will accept a plea agreement to plead guilty to a single charge with low presumptive imprisonment, or presumptive probation, when faced with the possibility of doing half their life in jail. put away the ropes. smother the torches, and leave this alone. thank you Emporia Gazette for tainting the jury pool. i'm not defending or prosecuting either side, but don't you all think we should leave this to those who will?

hey crack, now that the ban has passed, care to let the cat out of the bag, and admit that you are actually theresa walters?
Posted on April 14 at 9:59 a.m.
pretty sad to see that all the good work done for this community, by francis walters has been overshadowed by his nincompoop wifey. I for one think he'd be ashamed of her actions, as he always seemed like a fair and rationable man, who understood business owners. just saying, i guess it's been to long since teresa walters owned a business, now all she owns is a toxic waste dump, which poses serious health and safety issues to emporia. point that high powered perception at yourself, and start making your changes there.

it has less to do with insurance, and population loss, than it does, that many of the docs at newmans transfer patients out of town, when they can get the same care here. then the other hospital gets paid for their stay. god forbid, we treat anyone here. Newmans is not a hospital anymore. it's a triage center.
