Open season on squirrels. Seems they do more damage then anything else.
Pats on the back to Westar for getting it fixed quickly....

Legendary Penn State Coach Joe Paterno dies at age 85
Too late to edit. The word "enough" should have been "even". Sorry.

Legendary Penn State Coach Joe Paterno dies at age 85
Let's not enough discuss "the scandal". This was a great man and coach. Mr. Joe did so much for Penn St.and the state of Pennsylvania. He leaves a legacy that few will be able to fill. May he forever R.I.P.

Extension in good hands
Mr. Maley has done a great service for the area. I grew up on a farm, so I am well aware of the services the Extension Office provides.
But you don't just have to be a "farm" kid to benefit from this office. There are plenty of services and information provided by the Extension Service. As per Mr. Corbin, thank you Mr. Maley.

Cliff’s Super Service expands
I buy my gas at the same location that has been referred to. I pump my gas, show my Dillons card, pay and off I go. I don't linger. But, on more then one occassion, I have been yelled at for not moving my vehicle after pumping my gas and before paying.
I have always done this. The establishments are quick to call the Police for drive-offs, and that is the reasoning for me to pump, pay and vamoose.
Maybe Cliff's will have an increase in patronize. I do most of the maintenance on my own vehicle, but have heard several people comment on their satisfaction with Cliff's service. Congratulations, Jesse, and good luck.
It was too bad how the previous management was treated by the "landlord".

Possible grant opens way for new ball fields
With all the ball diamonds in town, what's up with this? "If you build it, they will come". BS.
Maybe we will get a Major League team now? Come on. The "old" diamonds will now become grassed-over eyesores, not enough use of this "new" complex and once again, the City of Emporia gets to laugh at there un-savvy tax payers.
Too many old farts trying to re-live their childhood through the expense of the taxpayers.......Bring on the REAL jobs, instead of peanut vendors and soda JERKS.......

Sniper tragedy will be remembered on tv
I knew Jimmy from the late 60's, early 70's, as a "white" kid, frequenting his neighborhood.
I am approximately the same age as/was Jimmy. Growing up in those days, you were aware of the predjudices, but as "white" kids, it meant very little to us, as far as associating with "black" Emporia. They were are friends.
I enjoyed growing up with some of the "black" kids, knowing them, "hanging" with them and still enjoy friendships with many of them today....
This was a tragic event, not only for Jimmy, but his family as well. I have fond memories of Jimmy Essex. May he R.I.P.

Forty Ful-"Filling" Years
Recently met Mr. Ace at his family auction. Never knew the man, but just speaking with me at the auction, he was friendly and interesting.
Mr., Ace, you can still come over and play with some of the toys I purchased at your auction!!!! (inside joke).

Junk Journalism
All you have to do is read "Yahoo News" on the internet to know this is true.
Mundane "news" stories", "tabloid" journalism at it's finest! Who cares about half this crap? I agree with Ms. Walker. Thanks for the story.......
