Two arrested in weekend BB gun damage
A friend of mine had her window shot out in her vehicle by these two "Children". Thankfully my friends own children were not injured when this happened, as her own children were in the front yard as it took place in broad daylight. The suspects came down the street slowly and came almost to a stop and shot out the back window of her vehicle in front of her children and then came back around the block laughing and carrying on about what they had just done and sped off. Thankfully her children were able to give the police a very good description of the vehicle.
Hopefully these two subjects involved are not just given a slap on the hands. I agree, they both should be given community work for the whole summer to pay for the damages they have caused. They also should be receiving some therapy to help them with their obvious emotional problem.
As far as stealing the BB guns from Walmart....Shame on Walmart to leave these items sitting on a shelf where anyone can pick them up and steal them. Some of the BB guns that Walmart has sitting out on shelves can cause some serious damage if someone was to shoot another person with it. I mean seriously, some of those BB guns that use the air powered tanks have a lot of force behind it, some people use them to kill rabbits and squirrels with , so imagine being shot at close range the damage it could possibly cause a person. As far as how they walked out of walmart with these guns, I would assume it was the smaller handgun type BB gun they are selling there, and yes these would fit in your pocket or easily under your coat. Walmart....Please put these items in a enclosed glass case where an attendant must open to show them to potential buying customers.
No, I am not blaming walmart for the actions of these two individuals, we all know where the blame lies, but it would be nice to know that other under aged children do not have such easy access to such items.

Oh and before I leave for the day, heres another thought. The amnesty back in 1989....Our good ole Government messed that up too...I'm all for amnesties, but the Government left out an important rule in order to become documented workers in the U.S. > All immigrants must learn to speak English within 6 years to remain in lawful status. All those people whom were given legal status in the U.S. back in 1989 were in no way obligated to learn the language here. If our Government is going to do an amnesty, this should be one of the higher recommendations for retaining legal status.

Do some of you realize that the blacks are still treated like crap in Mississippi. This is 2010 and the blacks there ( In some towns of Mississippi) still cannot have prom or other functions with the white race. It ain't about who's legal and who ain't in this country, it's all about racism. Period!

Myself I don't care if they are here legally or illegally. If they are here to work and abide by the law then fine, the ones that don't should go back. I'm waiting for the day when all the illegals get deported and the prices sky rocket here in the good old USA. Many of you say that illegals take the jobs away from our fellow Americans. Many of the illegals are filling the jobs that our citizens won't do. Why? Because no one wants to go work in the fields 10-12 hours a day making $6 an hour. So, when they all get deported. I'm going to sit back and watch all the people crying and sobbing over having to pay $4 for a head of lettuce, $7 for a pint of strawberries, $9 for a bag of oranges or apples, everything will sky rocket once all the illegals are gone.
I worked for an organization in Wichita for 5 years. We would (try) to find jobs for people whom were unemployed. On a percentage of 100 people, 90 of those refused a job because it paid under $6.00 an hour. I recall so many unemployed people stating they wouldn't take the job because they were worth at least $9 an hour. Okay, so it's better to stay unemployed and sometimes on the street than to accept a pay check of $230 a week. In my eyes I don't think so, but this is a common problem all over the U.S. Once all the illegals are gone, expect the prices to sky rocket, because then these companies will be forced to hire employees expecting to be paid $10 - $15 an hour. ( And it will happen one day.) So all of you go on and whine, get your blood pressure all out of whack fretting about getting all these illegals out of our country, then when their gone you can whine and fret all about the sky rocketing prices. LMAO Dammed if you do damned if you don't situation.

This video says more than any words I could say here. Just goes to show, don't judge a persons legal status by his nationality, not all Latinos in our town are here illegally. So please get facts before you make judgement. How would you feel if this happened to you if you were visiting a country and didn't speak their language and no one gave a damn one way or the other why you were in their country to begin with, you don't speak there language. Thankfully here in Emporia we do have people that will stand up for the Latino community.

seriouslyfolks.... I don't have a prejudice bone in my body, I love people from all nationalities. Color and race has nothing to do with a persons heart or that persons right to be treated the same as any other person would like to be treated. We, every color and nation, were created equally. When will people start treating each other with a little respect. If a certain person treats you bad...remember "that" person...not every living being of his nationality. I apologize if I came off with the attitude that I am against the white people as I realize not everyone who posts on here are white...Instead of saying "I am ashamed of how my race always seem to be the first to be so judgemental" I should have used the words "fellow americans" The real problem here is we can never change a hater, nothing that anyone does is going to please this type of person. I'm just real tired of seeing people post hateful comments about mexicans...cmon, lets be real here, there are a lot of law abiding, caring respectful hispanics in our community and these hateful comments effect them too, it effects everyone who is not racist towards any nationality. I remember about a year ago here in Emporia when a woman stabbed her boyfriend and he died...seems awful funny nothing was posted about her nationality being the reason for why this happened, oh wait.. I just remembered...she wasn't "mexican"...

I can't believe there are so many Haters in this town. Most of them seem to be white no less. I agree that the illegals do not mean only Mexicans, and as far as I'm concerned I know alot of hispanics "Mexicans" as you all seem to think they are from only one country..lmao...but no less, I know very few of them that are rude, I know alot of them here in Emporia and believe me the white race is a whole lot worse in the rude department than the mexicans. I am white and am ashamed of how my race always seem to be the first to be so judgemental. Now for the question about how much an interpreter gets paid...I have also done this work for the court and police and I was paid $20 an hour. That may seem like a lot to some of you folks, but believe me its a lot of work translating everything. My belief is that there should not be a lack of interpreters here in Emporia, I for one was not called for this and I am on the list for this service as is two of my friends which also were not asked to offer their services. So I believe the fault lays in the hands of the court system. As far as the wet back statement goes, whatever, it fits right in with all the "white trash" posting all their negative racist thoughts. God Bless

Smoke free or not
Here we go again. I and about 35 of my friends, have not frequented any bar in Emporia since the smoking ban came into effect.Just so much simpler to buy the alcohol and have a party at home than to sit in a bar and be forced to light up outside. Would have been alot better if there was no ban and the city had forced the businesses to put in ventilated areas for the smokers. I'm sure, as I have heard from a few bar owners, that sales are down and some have laid off employees because of it, but I am 1 of the many whom have chosen to stay home and drink and smoke. A restraunt is a lot different than a bar. I go to a restraunt, eat and leave within an hour, so smoking ban is no big deal there, but a bar I went to for 4-6 hours, big difference. Don't really care anymore, I have a nice big bar at home in the basement with 2 pool tables, 2 dart games and big screen with surround sound...SMOKE all you want, (Its ventilated) byob and we all have alot fun on fri and sat nights after a long weeks work. OH by the way, alot of non smokers show up too and love the fact that we all can be together in a well ventilated place.

Not the time
Thank-you Steve. I absolutely agree with you on this. I do hope they reconsider and put this on the back shelf until things change. I don't think a visitors center is an important priority right now.
