Their job is to sale sensationalism, persuade public opinion and make money. Honesty is not what they sale. It's also important that you understand that most people believe what they read in the Gazette, having never being exposed to their falsehoods and misrepresentation of the facts, and that's what keeps the Gazette in business."
That was the best piece of fiction I have read today. Kudos. Hell, I'll even throw in a golf clap for you.
What keeps the Gazette in business is advertisement, not sensational stories genius. And if you live in a world where a small news story about a guy getting a ticket for having his dogs in his truck bed "sensationalism" its time for you to click the little red X box on the top right of your screen, shut off your monitor get up and extract your head from the recesses of your colon region.
Oh yes ... The Batman has SPOKEN!

I highly doubt Pat Kelly attacked anyone in any of his editorials ever. He may disagree with the choices and actions someone takes but crossing the line and attacking someone ... I think we can all leave that to Nancy Grace. Pat Kelley is hands down one of the best assets The Emporia Gazette has, and I have enjoyed most of his editorials. The Batman has spoken.

For real ... 20 text messages about this... The Batman has no time for random text messages from the Gazette.

Since this is a thread about names, I just wanted to point out that Billie and Jean COULD be a man's name. I find it funny that you were offended by someone who was unable to glean your gender from your androgynous name. The only knowledge kansasjayhawks had of you was your classic internet lurker disposition and ignorance.
In classic snake fashion she with respond with a birrage of words that mean nothing and never will. She will probably try to blast me for using "ten dollar" words like androgynous to imply that I was trying to impress people with my intelligence. Then she will throw in some racial or politcal banter and call it opinion. Finally, top it off with a well placed cuss words cleverly hidden with asterisks and dollar signs.

Funston, your comment is based on hearsay, not a first hand account, like Mr. White's. I'll trust good old W.A. over you if you don't mind, but thanks for sharing your views... even crazy people have a right to an opinion.

Phil, I like you more and more, you seem to be a pretty level-headed chap. I wish you would have gotten a seat over one of those other guys.

Blah blah blah hate. Blah blah blah bigotry. Blah blah blah clever comeback to previous hate and/or bigotry statement.
This discussion is funny as hell. I laughed so hard I think I tinkled in my Bat-suit. By the way, it was SEPTEMBER 11th, 2001 (9-11), that is what citizenx was hinting at. The Batman has spoken.

I was just checking my e-mail and I received some terrible news. Leonard Crowl passed away.
I had the opportunity to work with Leonard at the newspaper for several years. In that time I got to know him just about as well as a co-worker can.
Leonard was a good man. I know people use that saying "good man" a lot, but it does him justice. He had his side-cocked grin on his face all the time, eager to greet you with a smile and hello in his booming voice. He always had time to listen to me even if he had to make time. He was never in a bad mood, but on occasion would blurt out, "Son of bitch!" when frustrated. His sense of humor was infectious and he would come back to the production department and regale us with tales and jokes daily. Yes, Leonard Crowl was a good man.
His family will probably not read this, they don't even know me, but I feel the light dimmer with his passing and I only worked with the man for 3 years and it has been a year since I saw him last. I can't imagine the loss and pain they feel today. Nothing I could say would matter, no condolences or cards sent.
If there is an after life, I hope Leonard is there and knows that the friends he made in this life will not easily forget him and wish that he has plenty of dark beer.
