Electronic parking meters?

I agree with several others. There is no need for this. Put the money where it is needed.

A difficult step

My husband has been with his company for 9years and has always gotten a good raise until this Dec and no one got raises at his company. This economy is hard on everyone not just state employees.

LPNs not happy with all-RN plan

There is very little these days that an RN does that an LPN cannot. Now a days and LPN can even do IV's and blood draws they just have to take one more class. I have been an LPN for 14years now and do everything the RN's do. EXCEPT there are some things that require an RN signature. I am in home care and do the 485 every 60 days for my client. The RN at the office signs it. An LPN tends to "do it all" in regards to patient care. RN's tend to sit at the desk more and do more delegating of the dirty jobs to CNA's etc. I would think that hiring two LPN's would be cheaper then an RN and CNA.

Church's gift to Emporia

madpoet is correct. Just because the school chooses,I say "choose" because it is NOT illegal for them to sing Christmas songs, not to sing Christmas songs does not mean the Emporia Auditorium should have to give up their nativity to a church, that is just silly. It should go right back to its rightful place on City property.

Fowler family

Wish I could have been there. This reunion has been going on for decades on the same day each year. I have many childhood memories at Camp Alexander with the Fowler family.

Grenade incident harmless; police keep relic

So why did they keep it? If it was a relic souvenir they have no reason to take if from the man. Maybe tell him to keep it in his home and not carry it around town which was an odd thing to do but they don't have a right to take it from him, let alone arrest him.

Jones Foundation is still there for children’s medical and educational needs

The Jones Foundation helped my parents with my orthodontia 21 years ago. It is amazing that it is still helping children get the services they need. What a blessing.

Group says it's pro-health, not anti-smoker

I live in the Denver area and there is a smoking ban here and it’s GREAT! We rarely ever ate out before because even in the non smoking sections of a restaurant the smoke still permeates and affected us. Now we eat out much more. Here in Denver restaurants can have covered patios for smoking. I see both sides in that a person can choose to work or dine where there is smoke if they choose but what if that is the only job someone can get then they have to breathe that wretched smoke all day at work. With my asthma I could not do it. Businesses are still packed here you still have to wait in line to eat out. I think it probably increased business I know a lot of people that go out more now that it’s non smoking. I took my kids bowling yesterday and we didn’t leave with our hair and clothing smelling like an ashtray it was great!
