Just a reminder of the sources of the bans, more concerned with "social change" than the bans themselves:

And what the 99 million dollars was going to. Note on page seven the "inside -out", provision going for patios later, AFTER business owners spend thousands of dollars to accommodate their smoking customers, clearly showing that the tobacco control activists have ABSOLUTLY NO CONCERN about local issues or businesses.

Here's the "model ban" from page eight that many communities copied, printed, and passed. It's the "smoking ban for dummies" It only takes a few minutes to fill in the blanks naming your community, the administrators names, and blanks to customize it to your community according to the width of your sidewalks, so it looks like local leaders worked tirelessly for extended time to originate it.

Here in Chicago, many small neighborhood bars eliminate this problem by ignoring the ban. Our ban is over a year and a half old, so the fanfare and novely are fading into forgotten history. The bars ignoring the ban have had NO complaints. No one wants the problems. The patrons smoking in the bar are bothering absolutly no one. These tobacco control activists never actually enter the places they are so eager to control.

Many small neighborhood bars here in Chicago are quietly ignoring the Illinois ban. The only noise is from neighbors of bars that comply.

If only 20 percent of the population smokes, these numbers reflect a lot of non smokers who are against invading privatly owned businesses and clubs.

On Recount request filed for smoking ban question

Ohio's ban promised to leave family businesses and vets clubs out. These ban lobbyists use nothing but lies and deceit. After several years, they're STILL trying to get their ban amended as originally worded in the ballot.

The bars outside of town must be rejoicing.

On Smoking ban in effect now

Posted on April 9 at 8:42 a.m.

After over a year of experience here in Chicago, now that the fanfare has worn off and the lobbyists have moved on to other states, it's clearly obvious that trying to ban smoking in small neighborhood "shot and beer" bars is pretty useless. Many small bars in my area ignore the ban to keep their customers, neighbors, and local police (many are patrons when off duty) satisfied. In areas where real crime is an issue, the problem of undesirables being attracted by groups of people outside the bars and causing disturbances on the PUBLIC street, property that the owner has no control over, far outweighs the issue of people peacefully smoking inside a bar, bothering absolutly no one, All of the complaints are from neighbors of bars that comply. It's fading into history in many small neighborhood bars. The only places it becomes an issue seems to be in rural areas where local police have little to do except visit local bars and monitor their parking lots.
