Awards presented to legislators
Johnson and Johnson, the makers of Chantix and Nicoderm, fund the bans through their Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Many tax exempt political action committees (charities?) received millions to lobby for smoking bans from the RWJ Foundation. These bans are nothing but clever marketing strategy, with lots of highly publicized "sky is falling" hype, similar to gun control tactics;

And what the 99 million dollars was going to. Note on page seven the "inside -out", provision going for patios later, AFTER business owners spend thousands of dollars to build them to accommodate their smoking customers. Their many coalitions travel the country spreading bans, changing their names for each community.

Since current bans didn't help businesses, now they are being given grants to enforce their bans, admitting that bans don't help business.

Smoking and K2 ban to be signed
We had the same hoopla and fanfare over two years ago here in Illinois. It has faded into forgotten history. After patiently waiting through the first winter for all these new customers, many small neighborhood bars had to allow smoking rather than closing. Risking a few fines is better than just laying down like sheep. The only complaints are from the neighbors of the bars that comply. Restaurants do ok with a higher turnover and many more called in "to go" orders.

Kansas Governor pushing smoking ban
Just a reminder of the sources of the bans, more concerned with "social change" than the bans themselves:

And what the 99 million dollars was going to. Note on page seven the "inside -out", provision going for patios later, AFTER business owners spend thousands of dollars to accommodate their smoking customers, clearly showing that the tobacco control activists have ABSOLUTLY NO CONCERN about local issues or businesses.

Here's the "model ban" from page eight that many communities copied, printed, and passed. It's the "smoking ban for dummies" It only takes a few minutes to fill in the blanks naming your community, the administrators names, and blanks to customize it to your community according to the width of your sidewalks, so it looks like local leaders worked tirelessly for extended time to originate it.

Effects of ban
Here in Chicago, many small neighborhood bars eliminate this problem by ignoring the ban. Our ban is over a year and a half old, so the fanfare and novely are fading into forgotten history. The bars ignoring the ban have had NO complaints. No one wants the problems.The patrons smoking in the bar are bothering absolutly no one.These tobacco control activists never actually enter the places they are so eager to control.

Here in Chicago, now that the fanfare and novelty have worn off, the ban is fading into forgotten history in many small neighborhood bars. The only complaints are from neighbors of the bars that comply.

Many small neighborhood bars here in Chicago are quietly ignoring the Illinois ban. The only noise is from neighbors of bars that comply.

Recount request filed for smoking ban question
If only 20 percent of the population smokes, these numbers reflect a lot of non smokers who are against invading privatly owned businesses and clubs.

Effective immediately
Ohio's ban promised to leave family businesses and vets clubs out. These ban lobbyists use nothing but lies and deceit. After several years, they're STILL trying to get their ban amended as originally worded in the ballot.
