Mr. Nuessen, Are you aware that smoking CAUSES high blood pressure? I am not sure how or why you are insinuating that not allowing people to smoke in a public place is going to cause higher blood pressure. If anything it may even lower blood pressure.
This is rediculous. Those who are campaigning to Vote No there is absolutely NO evidence to back up anything you claim. There are years and years worth of studies to prove that second hand smoke kills. In fact, tobacco companies will tell you that it does. So why is there such a debate over this? As a person concerned with my health and the health of my small children I think the right to live and be healthy somehow is a little more important than a businesses right to allow smoking. Come on people. There are bigger issues out there.

Thank you Sharae! I totally agree. Had it not been for Gina I probably would have quite breastfeeding my first son Gabe only 2 days after leaving the hospital. Breastfeeding is actually a hard thing to learn for some people. Thank you so much Gina for your help

This is very disheartening to myself and my family. My husband is a state employee who may or may not get paid this Friday. State employees are paid 2 weeks behind. This means that really they can't pay the employees for 1 month of work. Please keep us in your prayers. We have 2 sons under 3 years of age and we help out my husbands dad who recently had a stroke leaving him paralyzed.

Why, then, Mr. Lane, are there plans to reconstruct Memorial Union?

Is the Gazette really so hard up for stories that they have to publish this junk! There is nothing helpful about this letter.

neighbor--I was not trying to rattle your cage! I simply hate to hear all of this complaining. Look back through the Gazette from the last few months. Every time anything is presented that could actually make a positive difference in our community...there is a following of people who have to voice their whines and complaints! As far as you attacking me personally, obviously you have nothing to offer this forum! I am an excellent teacher and parent, church member, community member, etc and my opinion is as valid as yours and anyone else's who posts here! Can we not keep the personal attacks out of the argument...after all you have never met me. You assume a lot about me from reading just a few sentences
I am not looking for an urban area. I am just looking to see that Emporia's economy will not crumble. Over the last year, we have lost jobs. We need to create more. Many of the businesses here are wonderful but need competition. I am all for small business ownership, but you cannot have a healthy economy without jobs or competition.

bobhornet--I couldn't agree more! It is good to know that someone in Emporia has a brain!
eiggohp--Do you know Christie personally? Where are you getting your information?

By the way MisterO, I do think for myself and I know that I don't like to be around smoke. I do however like to eat at Coach's or Applebees or other appropriate family establishments.
