Sadly, this issue of early release is complicated further by the fact that on average a teacher (at Timmerman) in this case can be out of the classroom up to two to three times a month on "in-service". This puts a sub infront of our students. The PTOs need to challenge Dr. Able. We have an institution in the two nationally known for education. I am sure there are resources at ESU that could provide some vision for the Board of Education. I think it is time to keep the students in school and the teachers in the classroom!

What about the connection between the sale of the building and the administrator. Has the board of education made comment on that?

Rep> Peggy Mast was unable to attend the meeting Saturday morning because of her involvement in Kansas Day...now don't that beat all. Our elected official not at a meeting because of KS Day activities. One might think that Rep. Mast would use her head and be at a gathing in her area based on the current events. I am sure that several community leaders have changed their schedules to address this issue, but our Peggy, well she must have felt that smiling and being part of KS Day activities was of far greater importance then being in her community during a time of hurt, fear and concern. Hope you had a good day Peggy. I know that by you participating in KS Day you have made my life better!

Something to think about...first what makes the HRC or a charity knowledgible about all the associated issues related to Emporia's ability to support the resettlement?
From a personal perspective, we as a family have made the decision that we will be moving in the early spring. We need to take this step as we feel we can not continue to raise our children in a community that is so divided on so many issues. What is sad we are not the only family to come to this point.
Further, we have been very blessed by our time in Emporia, we have a very high household income and pay some of the highest taxes. We have invested our time, energy, and funds in many different organizations and our church.
All that aside, it has come down to what is best for our future and more importantly our children. Perhaps some will see this as selfish, but our responsibility is to our children.
We are both blessed, we have the education and the experience to secure employment without creating a hardship for our family.
