Ignore television? LOL! How about ignore political television. You hit it on the head, all politicians are flawed, there is no such thing as a Mr. Smith in Washington. (My mom forced me to watch a lot of old movies, but frankly my dear...) I was stationed in D.C. and that place seems unlike any city I have ever been in. During the day there appears to be a lot of moving and shaking, at night depending where you are at, it has many problems that the rest of the world has. Deciding on who to vote for is a crap shoot. You pick which one you feel you are comfortable with and roll the dice and take your chances. Problem is, people think that the President has all the power when it is the people in the capital building that time after time are reelected. What's more important than politics, YOUR FAMILY. Who gives a crap about a politician that doesn't do or cannot do what they said they could. As a father/mother, sister/brother, son/daughter, you need to make sure that you are looking out for your family, and then yourself. Bush's approval rating is low, who cares? What's your approval rating is more important. Gas prices are high and really crappy, Bush is an oil man. Realize this however, when he leaves office, regardless of who takes his place, male/female, black/white/purple, oil prices will still be set in a way that we as common folk have no say in.(stop sending that silly email about not gassing up for a day, its just as fictional as natural male enhancement spam) What matters is how you live your life and what you do for your family. mistyblu09,
No problem with the joke, I do have a sense of humor. There are several reasons for both sides of the argument that I find valid just like there are several that are asinine.

As far as Emporia is impacted the only problem I have with illigal Mexican community is that it is illegal. However, it is to be admired the sense of family that they bring with them. Consider the alternative, they do not cause the problems that the refugees caused and that our "leadership" refused to address. As far as who is to blame, we all are. Regardless of our political ideals and afiliations, we elected the leaders that refuse to do anything that is vital in this situation. Same as we allow Emporia's "leadership" to get away with greasing the squeaky wheels that hold us back from progress. For example donated land that our fairgrounds sit on instead of moving in the direction that would have benefited this city. I am guilty as well.
I would be entertained to read any hateful emails you might want to send. eattheapple25@gmail.com

Thank you Veterans.
"The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!"----- Eleanor Roosevelt

Just a quick pointer for those who would have took more aggressive actions. Learn this phrase if the need arises. "I feared for my life and did what I had to to STOP their actions." Don't say anything Hollywood style like, I had to break in a new bat, or I would have shot more times, but reloading took too long.
*It would behoove us all to makes sure that whatever actions taken are in line with what state and local law support. Going outside these laws will result in arrest and a trial.

The solution is quite simple. Whatever is happening will come to a head. We must walk as proud Americans. Hold your head up and do not fear to look anyone in the eye. Men protect your families, that is all. We don't have to change who we are, we do not have to roll over to and give into things like not looking them in the eye. I would laugh if they tried something at Wal-Mart, when they do, don't let them get away with it. For the women out there, do not fear them. You have every right that a man has regardless of the kickbacks Emporia "leadership" gets from housing them. Remeber getting pushed is a form of assault. Press charges. Pray for our policemen as the put up with the ensuing nightmare.
Remember what city leadership is doing about this. Just because you own a car dealership does not mean that you are going to be voted in during the next election. You will be held accountable.
Me: Knock knock
Leadership: Whose there?
Me: The voters, your customers, your neighbors.
Leadership: What do you want?
Us: We want you to know that we hold you accountable. Also we know that you have to reach your backside to wipe just like we do. Of course we use toilet paper.

Missing hours of learning? I remember two things about school I either slept or read a book. I got mostly A's and a couple of B's. The teachers kept telling me: "Mr. Eattheapple, if you didn't get such good grades we would tell your parents what you do everyday." I didn't know where my locker was, refused to take my school books home, and stored everything in my gym locker. I also heard "what until you get in the real world." Being a successful adult/father/husband/former Marine, I have experienced this so called real world and it is exactly like high school. What I have learned in this world was by experience. Sure the need for education is there, but real hands on experience is the key. We ask for our teachers to become more and more like baby sitters instead of freeing them to teach us what we really need to know about their classes' subject. We have very few Mr. Marstall's who actually allows thought to occur in his class. We have very few Mr. Grant's who teach not only proper diction for our singing but life lesson's as well. I remember being afraid to act up in Mr. Miller's gym class because he wouldn't let it stand. Mrs. Garrett actually took the time to explain geometry to me and some of its potential uses. Mr. Carl even who I like now as an individual but disliked as a teacher (said I missed a question about All Quiet on the Western Front) instilled in me a deep appreciation for this country's history. We have a lot of good teachers, untie their hands, let them teach what they need, and then let everyone involved in school to spend more time with their families.
