Well said Mr. Corbin. I was simply explaining my opinion that we have too many "idea" guys in this world and not enough "doers". Unfortunately that is becoming the American way. Let's all sit behind a computer (like I am too) and complain all day. That way, we don't have to risk anything.

Ex-Emporia city engineer facing charges
Everyone needs to realize "misuse of public funds" doesn't always mean cash going out. In an engineer's case, it could be buying or building something that was for the city but not in the best interest of the city. I have a hard time believing Mr. Beatty would embezzle money from the city. The county property is mentioned, I'd be willing to bet it had nothing to do with that and mostly to do with someone who didn't like Beatty when he was at the city. I'd bet it was an honest mistake that could be seen as misconduct if that is how you wanted to view it.

Smoking-Ban campaign starts
I would love a ban on smoking Mary_Carol, I don't smoke and I hate to breath it. What I am saying is let the business OWNER decide his/her internal policy. If the owner is the county or city, they can decide their policy for their buildings too. If a business owner makes a choice, you can choose too. A government dictating policy to private business will lead to socialism and history shows that is not the best way to go. ... By the way, I call bs on your job issue. There are plenty of jobs in smoke-free environments. You may have to sacrifice your pride to eat.
