You are right on target Mr. Walker. When is the school system going to wise up and see and understand that our students are falling farther and farther behind in the world. It seems like with all the home work that is sent home with the students each day they will either get it or not and it's up to them and yet the teachers need additional time during the day. Get real. Here again "It's all about the system and that's just the way it is." It won't continue will it teachers?

If all of the Hispanic's who have posted comments on this blog stepped forward and took all these illegals we have here alone and explained to them that the way to get along here in the United State is to get yourselves legal and speak English they wouldn't have near the trouble they think they have. There are enough beginning to get a gut full of this and it's not just the Mexican illegal. When you get the increase in property taxes we are experiencing here in Emporia and Lyon County doesn't make it any easier to swallow when we know a large amount is to pay for a bunch of the illegals needs. School is a good example along with health care.

Give me a break. For the past several weeks the Gazette has page after page of companies searching for workers for WORK and if there is anyone out there unemployed. who's fault it that? I was always told you can go to work anywhere and it may not be what you want to do the rest of your life, but you can be looking for a job once you have one as that was what you were doing when you found this one. Buying diapers? Give me a break. If you feel you must do this then why not buy the cloth ones and let the users do laundry like we used to do before they have the ones they have today. If we needed them we bought them ourselves. I'll guarantee you will begin the potty training lesson today. Another one of those issues, "It's all about the system." All one has to do is just wait and someone will take care of our money problems and families. Just be patience.

If it's so wrong now where the heck was the inspection in the beginning and if it was ok then what's so wrong now. The same-o-same with the building inspectors office. As it goes it's who and what you are. "It's all about the system.'

This is another one of those incidents that is proof that the county and city would be better off to have their law enforcements combined and under one roof and command. If one thinks this won't work then check around the western part of Kansas just to find out that it does.

Wouldn't it be nice for all of us to have jobs that after 2 years or so we have tensure, drawing a salary of over $33,000 and be assured that our jobs were still going to be there and that it would take an act of congress to get rid of me? That's sucks. These sort of things have been going on for longer then any of us want to remember. We the tax payers have given the school systems, cities, counties, states and congress a blank check for years. "You all have to know how the system works" I've been told. Create, your comment on the cost of credit hours @ ESU is and can be funded by many avenues of monies available to you as you well know and lot of it never has to be paid back. This is also funded by the tax payer.

Emporialifer you are right on target. With all the ads in the Gazette with businesses in and around the state of Kansas looking for employees in the slaughter industries there is no reason for anyone being unemployed. Sure it is going to be difficult to make the choices necessary to move on, but most of us at some point in time have done the same thing. For this community to step forth and doing what has been done at this point is fantastic. Then in the Gazette 2-12-08 they are having four separate meetings in four different languages so that everyone is sure to understand what alternatives there are out there. To begin with those that do not understand English is your fault, but Emporia is stepping up to the plate to make sure they do understand. Again if there is failure to obtain employement who's fault is that. Get real. Step up and be responsible for you and yours.

Come on now. Here in this article they aren't going to get what's coming to them in the way of benefits because they don't speak or understand English or be able to apply for unemployement because the are here illegally. Hasn't this been all we have been asking of the Spanish speaking people, be legal and speak English. Now it's necessary and you think you have help coming. Give Tyson hell if you all want, but those of you raising the most cane probably haven't been in business and unless you have and put up with all that there is in running a business don't have a clue. Get real people. Sure it's terrible that all have lost their jobs, but who looked after you when and if you have been this situation.

All the attention seems to be on the Somali population in our community and losing the fact that the real problems we are having is the influx of illegals coming across the borders. Now we are having advertising appearing on the TV of programs being offered in different language and plus the Gazette sends out a weekly paper included in the Gazette all in Spanish and yet noise is made about people not speaking English. You are sure helping the problem. If we continue to elect the same people over and over again the problem won't go away. It's not about wanting to serve their county, it's all about the money and what's in it do for me.

It's the same story time after time. If you want to put a dead line for the completition to contractors they will add a sizeable amount to the bid. That way the can get several jobs going at the same and assure that there is no down time for the workers and may just have one person on your job indicating work is going on. Balony. They do it all the time and this contractor should be held accountable. They have done it before.
