The Founding city of Veterans Day and William Allen White are deserving of signs. With all due respect to Clint Bowyer, a sign for him grouped with these is not appropriate.
The diversity sign is not needed. I recall a meeting at White Auditorium that was called to discuss the impact of Somalian refugees to our community. Anyone who was present knows we are anything but an inclusive community! It's going to take more than a sign to change attitudes. Right now, it seems too hypocritical. Claiming we are an inclusive community just seems to "kum ba yah". Nice but no substance.

Naming a street and portion of a highway is a more common sense way of honoring someone who has acheived and given back to his community. Clint's career in NASCAR has not been a very long one, thus far. I always thought it was a bit premature to post a sign. Let's see how long he can sustain his success and show improvement.
Good luck, Clint. I hope you do have long-term success.

Well said, Doug. The tactics of those opposing reform defy logic and reason. If is undemocratic then it may also be unAmerican. I'll say it again. UnAmerican. We should expect more as a nation than hooligan, bullying tactics.
This issue is far too important!

Sarah Palin is her own worst enemy. The media feeds on her because she gives them the material! She rambles in her incoherent speeches which are nowhere near what she states she is going to talk about. The thought of this woman becoming President is frightening. The fact that she is even being mentioned as a Presidential candidate is evidence that there is segment of the populace whose intellect has to be questioned. If she is anything, she is a shining example of hipocrisy! Examples include her out of wedlock grandchildren and her own personal infidelity. This ruins her integrity completely.

Very little substance or specifics in answers to questions except the one on abortion. But, that is the modus operandi of Republicans running in this state. Just talk no taxes, no big government, support the vague concept of family values and oppose abortion and you will get elected in this state. No need to bring in new ideas that will actually help solve some of the serious problems we face. Simple-minded voters don't need more information.
Come on, Rob, give us some specifics and how you plan to do these things!

Way to go Hornets! The City of Emporia and the surrounding area, the MIAA and the state of Kansas are proud of you. Your coach is right, you have nothing to hang your heads about. Keep your heads up, like the winners you are. You gave it all you had and that's all anyone can ask for.

Could you please explain how nuclear waste is a political issue only? I am not convinced that nuclear waste is not a health/environmental hazard. Does it not have the potential to contaminate our environment for 100s of years?

YahooSis
You must be friends with a good ole boy I met in a local bar a few weeks back. He admitted he voted for Bush then went on to say he thinks he is the dumbest President this country ever had. He accused him of making millions of dollars for his political buddies. He related how there are people lined up to assasinate him. He then went on to say that the man he was going to for was also in cahoots with people profiting from the war and this man wanted it to continue so these people could continue plundering and profiting. He is voting for John McCain.
He didn't stop there. He said he wasn't voting for that "n****r" Obama. He doesn't trust him. He believes the "n******s" have an agenda to take control of this country.
I walked away after that statement, filled with a deep sadness. I wasn't surprised. Racism, bigotry, simplemindedness and closed minds still reign in the Midwest. Republicans are incapable of considering both sides of an issue, fear change and can't vote for anyone except in the own party. That's why they are called conservative.

It's nice that people had an opportunity to exercise their right to vote. I just hope everyone was informed and educated when they voted so their vote really meant something.
No disrespect, but is there any criteria to determine if someone has the mental capacity to know who they are voting for? Are people with Alzheimer's and other conditions affecting mental capacity allowed to vote?
