Yes to tax extension
Steve, I liked the format of the ad too. Pretty clear and short.
Public must be 100% behind the Rec Center. There has been not one negative peep regarding their mandate to increase the levy on their own

Yes to tax extension
Meth...."won't ever do anything"? Can you back that up? Not one thing? Come on. Maybe the "powers" did not offer as much citizen tax money as you would , but nothing?

Keep Emporia growing
myemail... is correct
meth... there is not a city around to shop that has 2% less sales tax (see Ks Dept of Rev site)
In a perfect world there would be no need for incentives but the real world is here and if Emporia and Kansas and USA want to be in the get/retain jobs competition it takes MONEY. No, we can not win every competition. Some industries fail. Some leave anyway.
Where the heck would Emporia be if the city and county did not spend tax monies years ago when plants started to shop one town against others to see where to set roots?

Some years ago one of them, I can not remember which, had a branch on South Hwy 99 at the airport turnoff. Did not last long. The metal bldg. has since been used for several other porposes

Next grant payment released to Fanestil
Blue_Dog, you are right. There is much more to this than has been made public. I bet the RDA has/is doing all they can without "giving away the farm"
