It’s the law: Sidewalks must be cleared

I don't get it..can anyone clarify. We have to take care of the sidewalks, but if our drive runs through them and we block the sidewalk...we get a ticket.

Yes I will clear my sidewalks when they clear my ice packed road with snow piled on both sides....oh and the nice big pile they put on my property from an adjacent parking lot clearing..that was great too.

Welcome to Kansas, armadillos

Our house way out in the hills of Chase Co. had metal skirting and one night an armadillo was trying to dig under it and made the worst loud scraping sound as his armour rubbed the metal. Our border collie couldn't touch him when he rolled up in that ball he was safe from the dog's teeth!

Last month the kids and I drove to Tulsa OK from Emporia and counted over 20 roadkill armadillos just one way!

Scam targets Emporia businesses

I am in Emporia and several months ago advertised some puppies for sale in the Gazette and I was called with the same type of scam. They asked for my email. It's a scam that has been around for a while from what I found out later. They wanted to get the puppies shipped! Crazy.

Father’s bad habits

Great story!! What if he was "healthier" didn't smoke, chew or eat fat? Maybe he ran 5 miles a day...aren't his chances then higher for being hit by a moving vehicle? There is always something risky around the corner that can harm humans. Why do you think insurance companies exist? Sounds like Grandfather worked hard and like what he liked. Hmmmm bacon sounds good all of the sudden.

Art therapy

Dates for the band CO-Dependents to play is wrong..they play THIS Saturday at the Noose 8-11 then NEXT Sat. the 21st at the Heidi Inn in Lebo. Nevertheless..great band :)
