One dead, two injured in KTA crash

I guess there is no way of really knowing if seat belts would have saved this life but it does increase your odds of survival. I have been in several accidents & back then I never used a seat belt as lots of cars & trucks did not even have them. Over the years my wife has changed my views about the subject as in in the past our family with a car full of kids would load up in the car, She would not allow the car to move until all had buckled up. At the time I thought it was a nuisance but now it is just automatic for all of us to buckle up before the vehicle moves. It does not seem to be a nuisance anymore with me, the kids & their kids And it all started with my wife's insistence. I am not trying to tell everyone to buckle just thought I would share how we learned to cope with this situation. Condolences to the family of the deceased & a speedy recovery to all those injured.

Outhouse lore

I was Born in Allen Ks.& recall us having to go to main street the morning after Halloween Night each year in the 30s to retrieve our Privy. It was a local custom for the locals to haul it 1 block uptown on Halloween night. We usually had Hollyhocks planted around it for aroma. LoL

Final election results

I have not smoked for over 10 years but sure glad I do not live in Emporia or a town like it any longer. WoW WHAT is next Emporia dogooders. NO EATING CANDY after 6 pm.

All Union bas hers should read the story Posted by unbelievable1, this story would not happen in a good Union shop. jmo. I am so sorry for the 25 year man with no where to go with his problem.

On smoking

I totally agree with Debbie on this issue if you want to live in a socialist country move to Russia or somewhere the government controls your every move and keep out of other peoples business. I do not smoke but if i did I would not need you to tell me where and when I can lite up. We do have the option to go to another establishment if we desire, it is supposed to be a free country & you do have a choice so butt out. IMO Walts37

Juveniles arrested in zoo killings

Emporia residents are not the only victim's in this tragedy. I live in the s/w Missouri Ozarks and never miss going to the Emporia Zoo when i visit the area. I do have a home movie from last October 30 with a 5 minute look at the black swans that I will now only see in my home movie. I will still visit the zoo when in Emporia to visit relatives but will miss these great birds. We have and do make donations to the Emporia zoo with several relatives names and my moms name is soon to be added to the Name boards.
