Teachers declare impasse
Good thing we have such a high unemployment rate, if the teachers don't agree, let them strike and replace them with all the college graduates that couldn't find teaching jobs in May due to the hiring freezes! That should bring costs in the district down.

Gov. suspends tax refunds
Everyone is to blame - Democrats and Republicans alike. I can remember a time when Gov. Sebelius gave KS government employees an extra PAID vacation day - how much did that add up to again?
Suspending income tax refunds?! Our "government" has become a real joke!

Cable says more channels on the way
A couple questions:
Why did Cable One take away these channels BEFORE they had the new ones ready to "replace" them?
Can they do something about the fact that if you accidentally stop on those channels, the noise is deafening (or is that just my TV)?

Commission Raises salary
Must be nice to have a government job where you can give yourself a raise and make the taxpayers foot the bill. Wonder how many people in the private sector will see a 13.5% raise this year? Why do we allow these people to continue to do this to us?

New charges filed
What exactly does Goodman have against Swafford is what I would like to know.
File more charges against the man defending his home and friend, but leave the person who admitted to going there "looking for a fight" completely alone? Does Goodman have nothing better to do around the Holidays?

Truman spoils the party
slv #1
No I do not have it out for the cheerleaders - they are a very talented bunch and I could certainly never do all the stunts they can, but I do know what it takes to rally a crowd and they sure didn't do it. Thought I was giving them advice for next time. And if you really believe that cheering can't help determine the outcome of a game then you have obviously never been an athlete (of a sport other than cheerleading) - it's called momentum and it can certainly swing things.

City raises rural water rates and golf course fees
So rates go up $.50 or a $1.00 and that is going to stop a lifetime golfer? Really?
Life, we probably all pay, to an extent, for each other's entertainment - the pool, the parks, etc. I might not use those, but other people do utilize them, and my tax dollars are going to pay for them also. It's all part of trying to offer a nice place to live.

Truman spoils the party
Can someone please educate the ESU Cheer Squad on how to cheer for different sports?! With a sport like Volleyball, that is all about momentum, perhaps the cheerleaders could do fewer pyramids and stunts that don't involve the crowd and could actually focus on getting the crowd/team pumped up. I was very disappointed in the ESU cheer squad (the few who were there). Truman State's parents were louder just because they were organized yelling "Truman State" while our cheerleaders chose to do a longer version cheer "C'mon crowd yell E-S-U, E-S-U", so our crowd basically had to sit silent for a sentence then finally yell ESU. It was a joke.
Although it was a disappointing end to their season the volleyball players deserve a great deal of respect for what they accomplished and it was great to see such a large turnout this weekend to support them.
