So rates go up $.50 or a $1.00 and that is going to stop a lifetime golfer? Really?
Life, we probably all pay, to an extent, for each other's entertainment - the pool, the parks, etc. I might not use those, but other people do utilize them, and my tax dollars are going to pay for them also. It's all part of trying to offer a nice place to live.

Can someone please educate the ESU Cheer Squad on how to cheer for different sports?! With a sport like Volleyball, that is all about momentum, perhaps the cheerleaders could do fewer pyramids and stunts that don't involve the crowd and could actually focus on getting the crowd/team pumped up. I was very disappointed in the ESU cheer squad (the few who were there). Truman State's parents were louder just because they were organized yelling "Truman State" while our cheerleaders chose to do a longer version cheer "C'mon crowd yell E-S-U, E-S-U", so our crowd basically had to sit silent for a sentence then finally yell ESU. It was a joke.
Although it was a disappointing end to their season the volleyball players deserve a great deal of respect for what they accomplished and it was great to see such a large turnout this weekend to support them.

whatever you say mactlyon. you keep telling yourself that but your above snide comments show your bitterness.
ESU is obviously doing you a disservice because as a graduate student I would have expected a more intelligent answer than an assumption of where I work based on my user name. I guess if I made the same mistake you did, I would assume you work at the Mac counter at a mall or something, but I won't because I'm smarter than that.
so tell me what you think "affordable" housing is - what kind of rent do you expect to pay each month for something nice and affordable?

sounds like someone is bitter that mommy and daddy didn't help pay for his/her school or rent. who cares who lives there and how they afford it? it will be a great place for new professors to live. I would think most landlords with nice new properties would not want to rent to college kids anyway since most (not all) don't take care of things.

I'm so glad someone called these people out with a quiz. funny I didn't notice them answering any of the questions. should it be that hard to defend your side if you actually did the research on the topic you are such a die hard supporter of?

I never stated I was making an analogy because I know it wouldn't fit, I was simply stating that there might be more pressing problems for these folks to focus on
And by the way, we do suffer (not physically) from overweight people, it's called footing the bill for all their medical problems when they can't pay.

no pun intended on your description of his punishment (pat on the backside) right? Sorry, that made me laugh, but you probably didn't mean it that way. I agree that the punishments for pedophiles are way too lenient!
How about that Topeka judge that let that old man off with PROBATION (that's right - zero jail time) after he was found guilty of raping a little girl?! Even the law dictated that the man should get a minimum of some jail time, but this arrogant, egotistical judge thought he had the right to go outside the letter of the law and make up his own punishment (if you can even call it that). Makes me think that judge must be a pedophile himself and that is why he goes so easy on them especially since this wasn't the first time a proven pedophile received a slap on the wrist from him. That judge should be removed from the bench ASAP!

No I do not have it out for the cheerleaders - they are a very talented bunch and I could certainly never do all the stunts they can, but I do know what it takes to rally a crowd and they sure didn't do it. Thought I was giving them advice for next time. And if you really believe that cheering can't help determine the outcome of a game then you have obviously never been an athlete (of a sport other than cheerleading) - it's called momentum and it can certainly swing things.
