John Roberts? LIke, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court?.....?
Anyway, humor aside, it doesn't appear as if any party is guilt-free, imo. Lots of people spray stuff that is no longer "used". Lots of people ignore statutes. I'm sure this Mr. Roberts is no different than his neighbors (because, in these instances, no one is ever 100% correct). Right now, it's just word-play online, kwim?
(And no, I have no insider knowledge, I'm just speculating).
IMO, from what I've read, not one person (or family) is right or wrong. If people are eating his produce, maybe it's not as bad as the original problem proclaimed it to be?

I wanted to pass this link on:
http://www.weather.com/services/notify.h...
It is a program called "Notify!" by The Weather Channel. You can subscribe for a yearly fee and they will contact you in the event of a weather emergency. You pick what weather emergencies you want to know about and you pick how they contact you (phone, internet, pager, etc.)...for example, mine is set up to call my home phone only during tornado warnings in my county while they email me for severe thunderstorm warnings--no phone calls for that.
I'm not a fan of The Weather Channel's weather reporting, but their warnings come out from the NWS...and it works. About 30 seconds before the tornado sirens go off in my county, my phone rings to tell me it's happening. And living in Oklahoma, I have been awakened by that phone call several times in the middle of the night--when I wouldn't have otherwise known anything was going on.
It doesn't replace a portable weather radio but it is helpful.

I could be wrong as well. We'll have to see, I guess.

Wow, rdgrey! Way to insult your entire state--you know, Kansas = beef and the like.
I suggest you find a bubble to live in until it's over.
I'm sort of shocked that you would be so offensive to so many people about a product (beef) that is from your town and state.
Maybe we should shut down all the 4-h clubs and FFA and everything else just so you don't have to smell cows. Move to New York City if you hate it so much.

emporiahelper: You could benefit from opening a book judging from your horrendous spelling and grammar. You should probably just stop discussing books altogether since it's apparent that you don't know what you are talking about at all. Maybe if you paid attention & did your homework when/if you were at school, you would see the value of education through books.
Go back to your Xbox now. Go on.

I heard this rumor but I guess it really is true.
I'm pretty disappointed--my kids were going to be there for that weekend since my husband & I have to go out of town--and my mom was planning to take them to see this.
What a huge bummer.
I hope they don't cancel the fair, too. Oh, that's a county thing, not a city thing, right? Somehow, the city will get their hands on that, too, I'm sure (if they don't already).
I hope the Emporia voters take notice of this on the next few election days.

I would just like to point out that since I told BJ he was fanatically inclined to be against pit bulls, he's loved using that same word ("fanatic" or variations of) since.
I wish I could point you in the right direction as to what article I told him that...but there are so many, I've lost track.
Oh--and BJ, don't worry: You thought I was PB owner but I'm truly not. I live in OK (they are illegal here) and own a couple of labs that I rescued. My husband's family owned a PB when we first got together--he thought your comments were pretty funny. And fanatical.
His PB died of old age several years ago. She never attacked anyone. And that was in California. Imagine that.

Here is another resource for bike paths:

It's not geared toward street-riding but as a place to go and exercise.

Hmmmm. Rewarding people for obeying laws? It's like rewarding my children for behaving acceptably. If they think they'll get a prize for having a conscience and/or behaving acceptably, then I haven't done my job as a parent.
Is it just me or have parents gone soft? Everyone is so concerned that their kid will hate them for "being mean". Ugh. "Mom, I don't want to ride in that booster seat because Jimmy Downtheroad doesn't have to ride in his." Too freakin' bad, kid.
Do I get an extra reward for having my 8 (almost 9) year old still in a booster seat because he doesn't weigh 80 pounds & he's not 4'9" yet? Not all states mandate 8 years AND 80 pounds, but some do (like Maine and, I believe, California). If your child does NOT weigh 80 pounds, is not at least 8 years old and is shorter than 4' 9", then s/he SHOULD be in some type of child restraint. Otherwise, you should have trouble sleeping at night.
Check it out: http://www.aap.org/family/Carseatguide.h...
Again, those guidelines are not LAW, but the recommendation...and really, who would want their child to be more vulnerable than necessary if an accident were to occur?
