Blazing trails in Emporia

madpoet, I agree with you on a lot of your comments, about the safety of the school kids, in some areas. BUT, I went back and read the article again, and I think Borst has more on his mind than helping the kids, Around the river and the building of trails on the outside of Emporia doesn't help the kids get to and back from school, Yes the city has more important places right now for what little money they have and building trails for borst to ride his bicycle should be sit aside for a long time, For borst to use all of the reasons that he has just to get the bike riders a trail is sorry at best

Deer Season Typical; Success a matter of luck

I am not against hunting, I know that the area is being taken over by turkeys and deer. I allow a few to hunt my land. The problem I have is that some of the hunters, and yes they have been to my place ONCE, do not ever practice or probably even pick up their weapons before they morning they decide to go for the trophy, Especially bow hunters, (gun hunters also), those of you that think you are a perfect shot, guess what, you ain't, if you shot, kill the thing, don't let me find it a few days later with the arrow in its butt. Now, I know I will probably have a few tell me crap about this post, that's fine, you are only hurting yourself as those of us who do own land read these posts to. So think about your comments to land owners before you post. REMEMBER, you are a guest on the owners land and you should consider it a PRIVILEGE to hunt on the landowners land.

I went to the KVOE website and found the following, hell this explains it, Sanderson was probably a lawyer during the Vietnam war, hope a few get to see this post before the gazette pulls it to protect the judge, what a shame . maybe next year it will be in the summer time with partly cloudy day and 72 degrees and no rain anywhere,

what a sorry excuse, hope the Chamber of Commerce don't cancel the Christmas Parade because of cool weather, snow in the forecast and noticeable wind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who made this decision? this parade has been held in the worst weather and I have NEVER heard a Veteran of a Foreign War ever complain, but maybe it was because they were proud of what they did, I don't think the weather stopped anyone in WW1 or did it stop any Veterans during WW2 and it sure the hell didn't stop Combat veterans in Vietnam nor has it stopped the war in Iraq, Please print the name of the person who made this call!!! No doubt he or she were never out of there little office and were never involved in the field or bush or the heat. Just think how many WW2 veterans and others who look forward to this parade every year, not caring about the wind rain or cold, this is their day and as when they were young and in the military they pushed on, just as they would of this Veterans day for the parade. EMPORIA, founding city of Veterans day and cant even have a parade for the veterans a day that is 45 degrees and cloudy. WHAT A SHAME, I am so sorry Veterans, that some one with no thought of the real veteran would make such and dumb a$$ decision.

Public-comment budget session gets few participants

Hey Zimmy, Why does it cost $180,000.00 to ENLARGE a pond? Second question, is why DO you think the pond needs enlarged? Third question is, why do you need $69,000.00 for new mowers? Just how many years will it take just to bring in enough revenue off the golf course to even show any profit at all? I'll tell you zimmy' it will not happen, what a waste of damn money, yet you will take it away from those who have given their all for this city and county for years and now you want to take away a small thing as allowing senior citizens a chance to ride safely. And the damn city is BROKE, why do you think the UPPER seats in the auditorium need replaced? $105.000.00 is a lot of money that DOES NOT need to be spent NOW. WAKE THE HELL UP ZIMMY

Westar contractor apologizes

I agree with Ms, Ruff, and thank you because if you had not done anything, they would still be working there, yes I also dont believe a word they said in their little apology, just a lot of smoke and mirrors.
