Hearing postponed
It seems to me that anyone who lives in our country yet doesn't possess enough allegiance to our flag and culture to learn our language, doesn't deserve to be here, doesn't deserve to remain here, and certainly doesn't qualify for any of the rights reserved for U.S. citizens. By definition, an illegal immigrant is in the country illegally and is therefore a criminal and a foreign national with no entitlements or rights in our nation. Sorry, Dude. Sit in jail until you learn to speak the language or catch the first Greyhound home.

No interpreter, no hearing
Sooo.. persons too irresponsible and/or too disrespectful of our nation and culture to learn our language, while basking in all the opportunities and benefits they provide, take precedence over the victim, victim's family, court system, and taxpayers? In today's insanely politically correct environment, I guess that is somehow supposed to make sense.

Enforce the Law
You bet, Barbara! They need to enforce that law with the same energy and tenacity they use to enforce the law forbidding foreign nationals from illegally entering our country without proper permission or documentation. No, wait. If that were the case, we would soon have twenty million citizens texting while driving with no one seeming to care!

Salaries revealed
Instead of demonizing these school administrators for making the salaries they do, why not do what they did? Spend four years and $50,000 to $100,000 getting your Bachelor's degree and then another 2 to 4 years and an additional fifty or sixty grand to earn your Masters Degree. Then work hard and earn advancement and you, too could earn the "inflated" salaries they do. I personally know some of the administrators listed above and have witnessed the sacrifices they made and money they spent to earn their educational degrees while working full-time and supporting families.
I am retired now, but when I was employed, I earned more than these folks without doing work that was near as important. Nor did I have to deal with all the bureaucratic nonsense and public scrutiny they do. I just worked hard, worked smart, and worked long. I suppose you all resent me, too.
I don't begrudge a cent of what these dedicated educators are paid. They earn it.
What kind of nation have we become when we resent people who are educated, work hard, and earn a decent salary?

Routine visit by drug dog
Oh, how very fortunate we are to live in a small midwestern town where teens carrying cell phones and a dog pooping in a school hallway generates a furor and is considered big news. Folks in Detroit, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C. have no idea how good life can still be in the USA. Emporians have much to give thanks for this Thursday.

Fleeing absconder causes lockdown at Walnut School
Uh... the entire incident took ten minutes. How long do you think it would take the school staff to phone every parent of every student to advise them of the lockdown? Hours, to be sure. The staff was protecting your children. Stop looking for something to complain about and be thankful for the quick and prudent actions of the police and the school staff members.

Bowyer withdraws from consideration for entrance signs
I've never been a race fan, therefore not a big fan of Clint Bowyer... until now. Such a gesture by Mr. Bowyer is a true sign of class and patriotism. Enter me as an official Clint Bowyer fan.

Friday Thoughts
No problem, Chris. If you have enough money and are good enough pals with the city commissioners, you can get anything banned in this burg.

Close Gitmo
"Treat them, in other words, as we would have our prisoners of war treated: humanely and with due process of law."
So, you would advocate torturing the captured enemy combatants in a barbaric and inhumane manner and then slowly decapitating them while being videotaped? Good grief, man. We are at war with religious radicals stuck in the 10th century. Death is the only "due process of law" they understand.

The house on C Street
I know it's very hot outside today, but I wish Patrick would stick to water or iced tea and lay off the liberal left-wing Kool-Aid. Too much of that stuff will lead to delusions, blatant bias, and tendencys to put a convenient self-serving spin on all communications. You've ingested WAY too much Kool-Aid, Patrick. Try some ice water... and maybe a dose of reality and truth.
