I would say Clint Bowyer, but not just for his win, but how he got to that point. His influence on kids, to give them a direction and what can be achieved if you work hard enough. After, that I would say the Spartan football team and all their accomplishments.

Bjnemp- you brought out all the bad things and yes I am sure some of those things happened, but you left out that the majority of the slave owners educated, paid, clothed and after a certain amount of time let their slaves go. But of course you don't see that in the documentaries. What you are forgetting is the Civil War was not over slavery it was over Independence, just like the Revolutionary War was. The Confederate Flag represented the South, just like they elected their own president, The Confederate Flag was voted on by the people in the south. The whole voting process worked- they voted for independence, president and a flag that is history. The war is over but the battle for Freedom of Expression is still going on. Besides the comment about the Mexican flag, different country and it was waving in Texas, New Mexico, Arizonia, and California as a sign of illegal immigrants voicing their dislike for our laws and people were okay with it. That is more a slap in the face of veterans then flying the Confederate Flag.

You are wrong the Confederate Flag is history to a lot of people. My mom's family is from the south and she is by no means a racist. People calling the Confederate Flag a symbol of hatred is flat out wrong. Many people both black and white died for that flag. That flag was a symbol of the south, not of hatred but of status (seperation from the north). That flag is as much a part of our history as any other. That flag is part of my history and you don't have the right to take that away. Yes, some people have used the flag for the wrong reason and to say the least they are idiots. Just so you know I to am a Veteran and proud of it. I fight for freedom and part of that freedom is standing up for the past, the present and the future.

Congratulation to the kids, but there should be one other kid on the roster. He led the league in tackles and opposing teams ran to the other side of the field to avoid him. Since he didn't get recognized I will recognize him. BRANDON SPEER you did an awesome job this year and even though you may not have gotten the recognition you so greatly deserved the people of Lebo know that the team would have not gotten to the playoffs without you. I can not understand why your name isn't in the paper when teams ran to the opposite side to avoid you, but you still made the tackles. Good luck in the furture.

Just to add a bit more information for the group. The Somalian, who died at Tysons by what was reported as a kick in the chest. I would suggest that somebody contact the CDC and find out for sure. I have it on good authority the kick only sped up the process, he was dying of TB any way. This is the kind of people that are working around the meat that you eat. Tyson doesn't tell you how many were sent away that have HIV, TB, Hep, and full blown AIDS. Also, for those who watch the news you would remember that Somalia is a breeding ground for ALQaida and other terrorist organizations. As far as Maine, it devastated their city and state with health care cost and crime. While I pay almost 400 dollars a month and then copay while the refugees get free health care. There is no way the police will be able to handle the influx of crime that will plaque Emporia. Not only with the sexual assault, but the drugs. Garden City is going through the same type of problem and its only getting worse. Emporia can't even handle the illegals from Mexico and now you add the refugees. I hope the Liberals of Emporia are ready to pay more out of pocket in taxes for all the social programs and if it wasn't bad enough where you go to Wal Mart and got to hear the announcements in Spanish you will probably start to hear it in Somalian as well. Landowners be prepared to lose your homes when the Somalians decide to build a mosque and there is nothing you can do about it but move. This is what the city has to look forward to.

Look around the world and see where the majority of the people are Muslims and the problems they have. This may sound discrimantory but look around, the truth hurts.

The same people who will let songs like that play are the same one who will cry foul when a Christmas song is done in Public. The same type who will sue saying not playing a song like that violates their rights to Freedom of Expression

On the Lebo game, why didn't the Gazette give Speer much press like they did Smith? Speer had three touchdowns and not much fan fare against a team that hasn't played a full game all season, because they have out scored their opponents in the first half. If there is going to be a story at least try to make it appear unbias. Speer, Smith, and Jones are all looking and rightfully should be for football scholarships. Jones and Speer were the leaders of the team. Without these two kid's motivation they wouldn't of made it as far as they did.

One of the most impressive players that I have seen is a Lebo High Senior name Brandon Speer. He is one of the hardest hitting players that I have seen. Not only that he is in on every play either making the tackle or assisting. The coach for Lebo should utilize him more on offense then what he has been doing. The kid is fast, cuts quick and hardly ever drops a pass. This is one kid that brings excitement to the game.
