Tyson worker had TB

sweetpea99-Although tuberculosis is contagious, it's not especially easy to catch. In general, you need long-term contact with an infected person to become infected yourself. You're much more likely to contract tuberculosis from a family member or close co-worker than from a stranger on a bus or in a restaurant. A person with nonresistant active TB who's been effectively treated for at least two weeks is generally no longer contagious.
Although TB can affect other organs and tissues, it primarily attacks your lungs. Approximately two to eight weeks after your lungs are infected with M. tuberculosis, your immune system springs into action.
Sometimes active TB can develop years after the initial infection. This occurs when your immune system can't keep dormant TB bacteria at bay, and the walled-off germs become active. A number of factors can weaken your immune system, including aging, drug or alcohol abuse, malnutrition, chemotherapy, prolonged use of prescription medications such as corticosteroids, and diseases such as HIV/AIDS. About one in 10 people who have TB infection goes on to develop active TB sometime inhis or her life. The risk is greatest in the first year after infection, but the disease may not resurface for decades.

‘Everyone’s afraid’

WHOLY CRAP! All my years of watching documentories, news, intel from agencies, I have never heard anyone say what Mr. Jama said, " No goodness will ever come from Ethiopia going into our country, we brought all these problems on ourselves. There is no one else to blame." At least one person is owning up to what has happened there.

Not a USA problem, so we should stay out. We have our hands in too many cookie jars!

165 lbs of marijuana found during speeding stop

She was probably just the mule taking it from one location to the other. Most " Major " dealers will use women to transport their drugs for them. Sometimes they will get a women with children to make it look more inocent.

Something I have noticed with this paper, howcome they never list the charges the suspect is arrested for? I dont understand that. Can someone answer that ? for me?

Robbery attempt is foiled

And my family is moving there this month. Thats pathetic. Well Mr. PEck, you just won two counts of aggravated battery, attempted armed robbery, unlawful use of a weapon, and if you muttered any racial slurs, say hello to federal prosecution for a hate crime! At least thats what should be done if the evidence supports it.

The DAILY REPORT for January 4, 2007

I have a question........Can the paper post who these people are? I just want to know how many of the " refugees " are causing problems, and who aren't. I know the front page of the Offense reports are public record and the back page is not, but I'm sure the media can get what they want if they really push for it. I know if my son or daughter was to have caused a problem, I would want the whole city to know about it so to prevent it from happening again.

One Dead, Three Injured in Coffey County Crash

My prayers for the families. This sounds like a very high speed crash. What is the speed limit on this road?

Warning: DUI Penalties are Harsh

I cannot believe what I just read! What is the odor of alcohol? I thought officers smelled for the odor of an alcoholic beverage? I thought there were only three test in the " Standardized Field Sobriety Tests "? HGN, walk & turn test, and the one leg stand. At least I thought thats what NHTSA put out. Does the Emporia Police re-certify SFST every two years as required? Hmmmm? READERS! if you are asked to take a PBT, take it. It's about a $200 fine if you don't! I thought in Kansas the only two mandatory arrests were Domestic Violence and DUI if there is reason to believe those crimes were commited? If you refuse to take any of the test, say good bye to your driving privies for a year! Now this really blows my mind; " Once an arrest is made, the driver has two choices: either plead guilty or enter into a diversion ". What happend to the right to a trial by judge or jurry? If this is how DUI's are written up in police reports, I know I can beat any case without an attorney! I think more research should have gone into this article before printing!
