Madison stuffed potato feed The freshman of Madison High School will be serving baked potatoes stuffed with chili and more, cakes and tea at the basketball game Friday evening. Serving will start at 4:30 p.m. and the cost is $5.50. Proceeds will go to the MHS Class of 2015.

A former employee at an Emporia nursing home was due in court today for sentencing on charges she added tap water to a painkiller prescribed for a 105-year-old patient.

CORBIAN and Lightwire Theater Saturday A pair of fables acted by a unique and extraordinary puppet troupe, CORBIAN and Lightwire Theater, will be performed at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Granada Theater. This program is part of a series sponsored by the Emporia Arts Council. The Ugly Duckling’s adventures lead him on a search for others who will love him for who he is. The famous story of the race between the Tortoise and the Hare is best known today for teaching the moral that “slow and steady wins the race.” Tickets are available at the EAC, the Granada Coffee Co., Sweet Granada and Emporia Fitness. Adults are $15, youth $10.

Lyon County residents have the opportunity to reserve tickets for the seventh annual Symphony in the Flint Hills event before tickets go on sale to the public March 10. Historically, event tickets sell out in record time – last year all 5,000 general admission tickets were gone in less than 40 minutes.
