Magallanez

Magallanez

Raul Manuel Magallanez Jr. is guilty of raping a child, jurors said early this afternoon.

The conviction will send the 32-year-old Emporia man to prison, officials said.

Magallanez was convicted of nearly 50 sex-related crimes against teenagers. The charges included multiple counts of rape, aggravated indecent liberties against minors, furnishing alcohol to minors for illicit purposes, aggravated sodomy of minors, sexual exploitation of a child and aggravated intimidation of a witness. The charges involved three different victims, one as young as 13 when Magallanez had sex with her.

Six of the original charges were dismissed earlier for lack of detailed evidence.

Although no sentencing date was set, District Judge Lee Fowler said Magallanez could be sentenced in about a month, after a pre-sentence investigation. The conviction for raping a 13-year-old carries a prison sentence of 25 years to life, Lyon County Attorney Marc Goodman said.

Good job, prosecution. Well done, jury members. This had to be a very difficult case to hear. Reading about it in the newspaper alone was uncomfortable. I can hear all of us breathing a sigh of relief.

This monster deserves life and then some.

I am happy to know that he is going to prison. I don't know about how Kansas prisons, ( management ) treat child molesters But I know that the people who really run the prison, ( inmates ) would make him pay for all that he did to those little girls. If there is truly justice in this world he will be put into general population and not segregated with other like minded individuals. Lets all hope he does not go he goes to an all "cho-mo" prison. He needs to feel the things he did to those kids.

the jury did an excellent job in the verdicts the prosecution was totally awesome, the defense, well they only had so much to defend, this guy is a real creep and after watching him in court disgusted me . i believe, that he thought he would beat the system yet once again, i truly hope he rots in prison,

I pray for the children and families affected by the actions of this man. I am happy the jury made this decision.

KUfan: Sure you do. Some of the things your culture does to young girls cannot be considered much better than what he did. Maybe you are different, though. If so, I apologize.
Whatever.

eatasheep69: Granted, today's children are exposed entirely too much. But I don't think that our "culture" has anything to do with the perverted actions of this person. He took it upon himself to chase after and rape girls that were clearly not of age. And no matter how they dress or act, the facts stand clear. You simply cannot have sexual relations with children. It is morally wrong, and downright disgusting. I am glad that the townspeople of Emporia stood strong, and gave him the punishment he deserves. It makes me proud that for once, people took the time to see that another's actions were wrong, and did something about it. Bravo to the jury!

Good gosh that was totally uncalled for eatasheep. This is about a child molester getting his just punishment not something racial. If you are in the mood to attack HUMAN beings for NO reason take this to the other forum that has been over run by racist pigs... Thank you.

I am glad that this guy is getting what he deserves. Maybe when he is in there his new "buddy" will show him exactly what it is like. Just one word of advice to you Mr. Magallanez - "Don't Drop The Soap!" I think our children will be a little safer now with one pedahile off of the streets. Now lets start going after all the rest of them as well. So we can be a safe community again.

Big sigh of relief! Congrats to the prosecution and good job to the jury for making Emporia just a little safer for our children.

Snake, you are the reason other people hate Americans. They hear you and others like you and think we are all that way. Not every one in the same race believes or acts the same. I thank the Good Lord every day I don't have your kind of mentality ((if you can call it anything close to a thought process)) I agree with kstreb on one of the other posts about your brain and the bb on the 6 lane highway. You never have anything constructive to add. Why do you bother? Do just like getting under peoples skin for NO reason? If so I think and this just my opinion. Grow the &%*$ up and shut your &&^% pie hole until you have something to add that can maybe help the issue. Kisses

Anyway I am so glad this guy is getting what is coming to him. I think Bubba will enjoy him.

I've already posted once with regard to my satisfaction with the verdict; in addition however, I'd also like to see the monster's mother take some heat. As I recall in one of the articles, she warned the young girl about Magallanez being a predator. That alone suggests she knew what was going on. Is she culpable? Just tossing that bone out to chew on.

Snake just my .02 You probably shouldn't threaten people when everyone else can read it.

Posted by netloafer (anonymous) on September 5, 2007 at 2:11 p.m. (Suggest removal)

This has gotten way out of hand. To have someone threaten other posters is making this dangerous. Perhaps it's time for the Gazette to turn this over to law enforcement. I understand the need for vigorous debate, but issues veiled threats at others it's taken this to a dangerous point.

As far as the mother's cupability: ANY adult who has knowledge of a minor coming into contact with a KNOWN pedophile should be charged with something....However, she is not responsible for her ADULT son's actions. I'm sure she wasn't exactly the model mother or maybe he'd have turned out a bit better than this piece of crap he is. She's probably a lot like Snake (crazy/stupid/vicious).

The girls he assaulted also have some problems of their own if they are looking to a grown man for alcohol. I hope they are not lost in a system of neglect as well.

Where were the fathers of these girls, or did they have any? Ball bat the SOB!

Snake~No, you didn't threaten me, but your attitude annoys me. You are a poor example of an American.

On the issue of phony names SNAKE, I would like to discuss that with you. You have, in the past, claimed to be a female, am I correct? I got to looking at your earlier posts, and you also claim to be a male. So which is it? You also claim to be Billie Jean Mucker or Muker. You have spelled it both ways. I'm just trying to figure out things here. If you really are a female, you really are some lady. But I don't think you are who you say you are, just a phony acting like a tobacco chewing, overall wearing, mullet hairstyle sporting redneck. Please do us all a favor and tell us who you really are.

Posted by create (anonymous) on September 6, 2007 at 4 p.m. (Suggest removal)

admireed, I'm with you, but I wonder if Frontier Justice would have stopped that monster. The chilling testimony showed how determined that sicko was. Then of course, if you take the law into your own hands...yada yada. Still, admireed, I'm with you yet celebrate the work of the Lyon County DA's office and the jury too because this fiend is only 32 years old; he has a long life ahead of him and he's gonna spend it in a very ugly place.

I think at this point all of us should just rejoice in the fact that this child molester is off the streets finally. Yes, the parents should be put at some blame as well, I fully agree with that. Where were the mom's and dad's when these girls were running wild? It is today's busy life that has had a helping hand in this matter. We are all too busy to pay attention to what our children are doing, who they are with, or where they are going. I myself am incredibly strict about things like this when it comes to my daughter. Call me overprotective, call me old fashioned. But I would much rather my child grow into a healthy and well managed woman, than a woman who ends up on welfare, drugs, or worse, just because she was raped by some monster. I would rather my child be angry at me now for being too watchful and loving her too much for her to go out and get hurt, than for her to grow up hating me because I allowed her to go out and get hurt.

Now, to top everything all off... the discussion on here has gotten completely out of hand. People are worrying too much about what some a certain person is saying on here, and about who they really are. Why concern yourself over an uneducated fool who wants nothing more than to have the conversation be all about them? Why not state how you feel about the situation and then move on to better things, like your families? I am sure that they are much more important than a stupid conversation, am I wrong? Let this person's threats be taken up by the Emporia Gazette.

Posted by KUfan (anonymous) on September 7, 2007 at 1:07 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I only wanted to show my care for the families affected. How selfish you are to think that this has something to do with you. It has nothing to do with you. It is only about the families and girls. And about the man or monster or what you might call him that is no longer on the street.

Posted by hogan77 (anonymous) on September 7, 2007 at 8 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I suppose I used too big of words, you misunderstood me. This has nothing to do with being selfish. My comment was made only as a reminder that things like this can happen to any child- mine, yours, your neighbors. It should be things like this that make parents remember that it is an ongoing epidemic that won't soon stop.

This is kind of like a massive tornado that destroys everything in sight. Only after you have seen it happen to others, do you truly appreciate all that you have. Same concept here.

Learn to read the whole comment, not between the lines or what you want to read. Should I say it in plain English so that everyone understands? OK, here goes...

Bad people around you... they want to find your child... they want to hurt your child. Be careful... don't let the kids get hurt.

There, is that better?

Posted by hogan77 (anonymous) on September 7, 2007 at 8:19 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I'm sorry, I thought that KUFan was responding to my post. It was directly after mine, I misunderstood, I am sorry. I think now would be the perfect time to move on, and off this subject. It gets me too angry to start with. Again, I am sorry.

Its obvious this man needs help. I wonder where the parents of these kids were and how they cant keep track of them. Everyone is to blame.
