Anyone know what the new restaurant will be?

Posted by emporian (anonymous) on August 16, 2008 at 3:05 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Rumor has it another pizza place.

Pizza Rest. but I can not remember name. I had not heard of it before.

Just what Emporia needs, another pizza joint. When will someone open something like a Red Lobster or an Olive Garden?

Posted by create (anonymous) on August 17, 2008 at 10:41 a.m. (Suggest removal)

According to what I have read, Red Lobster and Olive Gardens say that our population is too small.

I'm like you, I can't imagine spending nearly a million dollars to bring in yet another pizza joint. Of course, if data is being kept, and I'm sure that it is, I can only guess that the average household consumption of pizza in Emporia, Kansas must be pretty high. Hello? What choice do we have? What would happen if nobody in Emporia ate pizza for one whole month?

Isn't that where the Maid-Rite restaurant is going to be?

Posted by emporian (anonymous) on August 17, 2008 at 2:25 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Pizza Palace is the name of the restaurant I believe. Maid rite was looking for somebody to buy a frnachise and put it here.

Posted by create (anonymous) on August 17, 2008 at 2:55 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Here you go. Make your own Maid Rite burgers at home. These are really tasty and real easy too. Save yourself a franchise fee. Just be sure you warm the buns too.

That's it.

A pizza place? Oh please be kidding. Is this all we can attrack. Maybe the other places will start putting on toppings that you can see like they used to be.

I don't think it would matter what the New Business would be, Emporia still has it's Pessimists. Any New Business is better than No New Business. If it's a pizza place, super, I like pizza!
I would think most can find Something to their taste here, I mean we only have at least 50 to 60 places to go.

LifeGoesOn...I agree with you! A new business is a new business.

Has the new restaurant on east 12th ave opened yet?

Posted by crackinsack (anonymous) on August 18, 2008 at 2:07 p.m. (Suggest removal)

eatasheep69,
Yep. Our family got take-out from the P.E. over the weekend. Pretty tasty and not a bad price. They need to clean around the building, however... A lot of cigarette butts and trash strewn about...didn't make a good first impression walking up to the joint.

Thanks for the reply. I've been curious about it for some time. I posted that exact same question on another article and it was deleted by the staff without an answer. ????

Those of you wanting an Olive Garden are not wanting much. My wife and I broke down and ate at one the other night and I found it very expensive and only mediocre, at best for quality. There are much better places to eat and we will not return to the Olive Garden. We just sold our house and moved to Springfield, Mo. We are so excited about all the many shopping, dining and entertainment choices here. Missouri is a much less expensive state to live in than Kansas. If I never step foot in Kansas again; I shall die a happy man!

eatasheep:

Your question was deleted from the other story because you posted it to a story about a shelter for homeless cats.

eatasheep:

Most people know why you posted that question on the story about homeless cats. That was inappropriate. Don't act innocent.

If you are that interested in when the Peking Express opens, why not read your mail. Everybody in town got flyers and menus in the mail.

Some of the better places to try and attract for eating establishments would be: Backyard Burgers--I shall never eat at Wendy's, McD's or Burger King again. The Rib Crib--Excellent BBQ, Ryan's or get Golden Corral or Western Sizzlin' back in town. Target and K-Mart are no competition to WalMart; go to Wichita and you will find they carry the same stock but are higher on their prices than WalMart. Lowes and Home Depot would not create any competition to Sutherlands as they all carry the same stock at the same prices. Emporia should focus on more industry and the other businesses will follow. The biggest hurdle for everyone is to ride out this ecenomic downturn and survive it in one piece; while mapping out a plan to prosper and grow once the economy turns around. If Obama is elected, we all need to buckle our seat belts and hope we survive the ride ahead.

Charlie, We do have a Golden Corral just south of Wal Mart. I went there on Saturday for a great meal. Good seafood too, Monday through Friday evenings.

truelovecharlie, I can agree with you on most of your post except when you said "Lowes and Home Depot would not create any competition to Sutherlands"
I think your wrong there, they may have the same stock and prices but you can be darn sure the help at Sutherlands would have to improve a lot in order to get my business. I would drive to topeka now just to avoid sutherlands because "most" of the employees there are worthless, either they dont like to help or are not smart enough about their products to help. JMO

Bluestem is an excellent store, maybe they can be encouraged to open a second store selling what the lowes and home depots sell. Bet it would be a better store and home grown.
