A spider started a sequence of events Monday morning that ended with a call for a tow truck.
An unidentified woman was driving north in the 1100 block of South Highway 99 about 9:30 Monday when, she told a Lyon County Sheriff’s deputy, a spider dropped into her lap and startled her.
She lost control of the vehicle, which went into the east ditch, through a wood fence and pine trees, then struck a PVC pipe, drove through the yard, over and through the edge of a lagoon, and stopped about 20 feet from the west side of a pond.
The vehicle missed striking a house.
The driver was not injured, according to information from the sheriff’s log.

And all this time I thought Little Miss Muffet was a fictional character.
