A new addition to the David Traylor Zoo teaches about animal conservation while collecting loose change for donations. The “Coins for Conservation” board is located between the cotton-top tamarins and the black-and-white ruffled lemurs. Made possible by a grant from U.S. Cellular, the addition will be fully operational next week, after the fence is moved and shrubs are installed. In other changes at the zoo, Hetlinger Developmental Services Inc. recently added a food option for people who enjoy taking lunches to the zoo. The Hetlinger concession stand is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and offers hot dogs, barbecued beef sandwiches, popcorn, ice cream, candy and Coca-Cola products. The food is available from the concession stand on the northwest side of the zoo. View photo
