A plat submitted to the Emporia Lyon County Metropolitan Planning Commission shows how a 71-acre tract of land at 18th Avenue and Graphic Arts Road could be used for a retail shopping center. The complex would wrap around Chapel Ridge Apartments. These sample plans, which are speculative, include space for three bigger retailers, a grocery store, 14 retail spaces and nine restaurants. Developers said Tuesday night that they have not lined up any tenants yet and these plans will change as the process continues. The zoning request now goes to the Emporia City Commission for consideration.
