Scott Williamson, Olathe
Scott Williamson of Trumansburg, N.Y., died Friday, March 14, 2008. He was 32 and had brain cancer.
Mr. Williamson is survived by his wife, Shannon, whose parents, Fran and Cheryl Herrick of Olathe, are former Emporians; and two daughters, Emma and Claire Williamson.
He was an assistant professor at Cornell University. His work in evolutionary biology was featured last year in the New York Times and was listed in the “Top 100 Science Stories of 2007” by Discover magazine.
The family will meet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel in Olathe. A Tribute to All Things Scott will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church of the Resurrection Chapel in Leawood, after which there will be a reception. The First Annual Everybody-Loves-Scott Event will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday evening at the Prairie Center in Olathe.
A college fund for his daughters has been established with the Williamson Memorial Education Fund, in care of the First National Bank of Olathe, P.O. Box 1500, Olathe, KS 66051.
