Elmer William Young, Eureka

1922 - 2008

Elmer William Young died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka. He was 85.
Mr. Young worked at the Rural Electric Cooperative in Fredonia for 28 years before he retired in 1979. He was a lifetime resident of Wilson and Greenwood counties. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
The son of George and Hazel Cooley Young, he was born Sept. 24, 1922, at Coyville. He graduated from Altoona High School.
Mr. Young is survived by two brothers, George Young of Olpe and David Young of Moses Lake, Wash.; and three sisters, Mary Delany of Fredonia, Florence Brown of Wichita and Genieve Ziers of Seattle, Wash. Two brothers, Keith Young and Jim Young, and two sisters, Doris Myers and Bonnie North, died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Timmons Funeral Home Chapel in Fredonia. Burial will be in Weakley Cemetery, east of New Albany. The family will meet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Friends also may call Friday from 9 a.m. until service time.
